My favourite purchase in 2019
I had spent ages reviewing different products but I was particularly interested to read an Amazon review by a fellow Quad HIFI enthusiast (my thanks to them). I was also impressed by the YouTube overview given by Fosi.I have now used every connection and feature and I have no criticisms at all and it only gets better as it burns in. The sound quality is beautifully clear and neutral for Headphones and over my HIFI system at any volume desired, Optical Inputs and USB input all work perfectly. The unit does not run hot, has nice protective feet, is solidly built and of high quality. If this isn't enough the packaging is first rate too. For the money it is astonishing value and an AB blind comparison between it and the very expensive DAC inside a high end CD plyer revealed no difference at all!!!!!!Buy this excellent product with confidence.

Good value & powers higher impedance headphones no problem
There is probably a small range of headphones people will or should use with this DAC / Amp you dont buy a $300 pair of headphones and plug them into a $60 amp but i dont have $300+ headphones , this powers my DT770 250ohm's perfectly and could probably power higher impedance cans no problem. The chips used OPA2134 etc sound great and the cmedia usb chip isnt flakey like on the SMSL m3 etc. No idea how long its going to last but you have to take extra care of electronics around this price , no bass boost but you always have the EQ on the device anyway.

Pristine and Powerful Sound Quality For Real, It's all their at Full Force!
The high, low , treble and bass are literally all their in powerful full force 20hz to 20khz and more. You'll notice sounds you've never heard before, etc for sure. This is a step up from lower priced dac amps. The only gripes was the included 3.5mm (small mp3 player socket) to big (dac amp socket) adapter is awful and a short delay between tracks on foobar but I switched to musicbee and that apparently improved it, but otherwise it works flawlessly fast ,etc for anything other then foobar so far, Id also have liked if the usb cable was black instead of blue but whatever, controls are fine their is a weighted-ness on the dial and the aux cable only works on optical not aux out.

Super DAC
The Fosi Audio Q5 is a well made DAC, so pleased with this DAC as I have tried a number of DACS over the years, sound quality has been greatly improved on my set-up which is basically a Onkyo 9010 AMP to a Audiolab 6000CDT Mission LX2 speakers, the best sound I have ever had. FOSI Audio also have excellent customer support & will help you in the unlikely event of an issue, I had an issue recently with a channel going down after 18 Months, Fosi Audio's excellent support team sent me a replacement board & it's an upgraded board!, that's what I call service.

Excellent addition to my desk…
I bought the Fosi Q5 in mid July 2020 to use as a DAC for my Mac Mini with the optical connection to the Mac using a cable I purchased separately. The two connections at the front allow me to have plugged in my headphones AKG K702 as well as a cheapish pair of desktop speakers for when I need some sound in the room. So no need to unplug and switch connections.Considering the price, the Fosi Q5 surpassed my expectations and now, going on 4 months later I am still very happy with it.Two smallish issues:1. I wish it had a volume indicator… the knob just turns round and round as you adjust and2. there is no indication that you might have accidentally pressed the mute on the volume knob.In fact that mute press nearly caused me to return it as defective unit, until I gave the knob a push and boom! Music.Oh and that blue light on the adapter is BRIGHT! It lights up the room when all lights are turned off, so the really can make it a less intrusive feature. So to end, you could do worse than this — for the price it is an excellent choice.

Good device
For the money this is brilliant value which sounds great. I have had no experience with other amp/DACs so cannot compare to anything else. It has more than enough power to drive my headphones which is all I need it for. Would recommend

Nice quality bit of kit.
Got this to hook my hard of hearing Dad's wireless headphones to his TV. Connected it to the optical out of his TV, so he can hear all the TV's inputs with out having to swap cables, also allows his wife to hear it through the TV's speakers (not that she needs to has he has his headphones soooo loud!)Sound quality is really good and as I went for a 12 volt version (more amplification than the cheaper 5 volt ones) the volume is more than adequate for him. He's happy, his wife's happy, so i'm happy!

Brought it all together.
Acquired some Sennheiser HD599 headphones recently, and while it made a notable difference feeding sound from my pc to my ears compared to my previous headphones, adding this brought the whole experience together. There is now more breathing room for the equipment. So much so, that it goes beyond what I was looking for, at a more than reasonable price.

Great Value DAC with great sound quality.
I wasn't sure about this Dac when I was Buying it but once I had it all plugged in it sounded amazing! Really easy to connect and use. Love the volume knob. It worked perfectly with my 2013 iMac. The packing was good and was delivered pretty quick!

Great value for money, decent amplification
Currently connecting to AKG K7XX, replacing Micca Origen+.I liked that drivers on Windows 10 are less hassle than the Origen - simply connect and play.I like external power connector, didn't test it yet, but implying plenty of power. Currently listening at very low levels and have plenty of headroom. Channels a balanced also on low volume - unlike the Micca .I don't like the flimsy buttons for on/off and input selection - the device seems proper metal build but the buttons are loose - it seems sturdy enough but I don't like it.At first use, sound was thin and lacking bass, compared to even an on-board output. But this problem quickly disappeared. I don't know if it is burn-in (which I don't believe in), or the fact that I needed to plug headphones into adapter a little bit firmer.Overall, I like this device and hope it lasts. I have/had - nuforce udac3, jds o2/odac, micca origen+, fiio alpen 17.I'm not usre it is the best audio quality, and specs indicate it may not. But for a workstation, it is great.
