31703 Spence 1-Light Outdoor Wall Lantern with Seeded Glass and Built-in GFCI Outlet, Black

Replaced a porch light that I use a dusk to dawn GE bulb in. The weather where I live I am dark sometimes longer than a normal 8 hours, and the lamps with it built in seem to have it restricted to hours. I just wanted a light that I can put my own bulb in, and have electric plugs outside. Great buy. I was having some electrica wiring done for my new stove, and asked the electrician to install the lamp. He was impressed with it. He told me it was built well, and installed in about 15 min. Looks great, wanted to know where I got it. Everything was there that he needed. It worked immediately as expected. It is larger but looks great. The lamp is much brighter and covers more area than pre viously with the old lamp. Very happy, going to buy another one for my shed in the back to replace one hanging loosely on the shed.UPdate: Now my first one has worked every single day for 7 months, just installed the one on the shed and it works beautifully. Had my porch replaced and other construction things, and they worked fine adding additional outlets for the workers on a house that had no outside outlets. What I really like is that it is not motion sensor. I placed my GE bulbs (which by the way have been working nightly for 5 years) and they come on at dusk and off at dawn. I am very happy as these lamps are beautiful, provide protection in the rain, wind of the pacific northwest and never have failed to come on as planned. Even with a power outage, once restored, they come back on. I have had great luck with these. I don't need another, but at this price, I almost want one to live in my shed just in case. I cannot recommend them enough. They surely work for me. I may have also said the electrician who installed the first one, was pleased with the quality of these lamps.

It’s a little bigger than I imagine but it works out perfectly. The only thing I could wish for is the backing plate with screws that hold the lamp could be stronger a round plate maybe. Other than that it’s perfect and I got a good deal too.

Old porch lights were on their way out so replaced with these.They’re not great to look at, rather plain but blend in well enough.Installs just like any outdoor fixture: two wires and ground and we’re wired up, fasten the screws, test, and seal it up with a bead of caulk. Like others said, it feels loose since you have a large fixture resting on 2 screws but once the caulk sets, it feels solid.Mine are connected to a timer switch so it comes on at night which works well with some plug in landscape lighting. Also have one plugged into a battery tender, easy outside outlet without running long runs of extension cord to a car.Could be an easy upgrade to a patio or deck as well for fans, lights, speakers etc. as long as you don’t mind having to turn the lights on.

After unboxing, I was pretty impressed with this light. Installation was straight forward and actually a little easier than some exterior lights I’ve installed in the past. Everything you need to install this is inside the box including marrette wire connectors.Design:The shape and design is quite attractive for the price. I purchased the black version so I can only speak to that one. The seeded glass is nice to look at and give the lantern a nice look. The bottom is open so installing or changing the bulb is easy. I used an LED motion detection bulb made by Aukora (12W - 100 Watt equivalent). Keep in mind, when using this bulb with this fixture may not work for your purposes on the motion control side. I find the bulb does not respond to motion with the exception to one area. I don’t know if the seeded glass interferes with the motion detection or not, or possibly, I don’t have the fixture mounted high enough (mine is on a back porch mounted 6’4” off the floor). It may work fine for you but just be aware.Installation:Straight forward overall and I didn’t really even look at the instructions since installing these is pretty self explanatory. Pay attention to how you mount the installation bracket and screws so when you install the light, the screws protrude long enough to go through the holes, and still leave just enough room for the decorative nuts.After installation, I turned the power on and tried the GFCI plug in on the side but it didn’t work.I realized that I needed to press the reset button to allow power to the plug. The little light by the plug lit up as soon as I pressed the reset button.Final thoughts:Overall very happy with this outdoor fixture. My only complaint is the door that covers the outlet has extremely small pins on the hinges to allow the cover to flip up. I broke one of them the very first time I lifted it up. The hinge pins are thinner than the width of a ballpoint pen. Luckily, my fixture is not exposed to weather so its not a big deal for me. If you plan on using this fixture to plug things into, such as Christmas lights, be aware that the protective cover is somewhat fragile and to handle it carefully when lifting it or closing.Hope the information helps!

Needed to replace led porch lantern. Didn't want anything fancy, no bells and whistles. This for the bill. Added bonus was built in outlet. Lantern was on "limited time deals" under $40. Missed deal trying to make up mind which lantern I wanted. Amazon Warehouse had exact one for $34 took chance would be no problems. None, perfect condition, box had small dent that's all. Installation took less then 30 min. that includes taking off old lantern. Lantern looks really good, perfect size over front door, good weight. Outlet will be used for Christmas lights, fingers crossed no problems.
