Vermont Gage Steel No-Go Plug Gage, Tolerance Class ZZ, 6.87mm Gage Diameter

I wish I could say that I purchased this Vermont Gage for its intended purpose and it that it performed flawlessly. But, I didn’t and I can’t! However, I was working on a prototype project and I found myself in a position needing to know if a certain size steel shaft would be correct without having to buy, measure, and cut a length of that shaft just to see if if would work. Scanning Amazon for any metal object that I could use instead of using the method previously mentioned, I stumbled upon these Vermont Gages. I know a little about machining, but I wasn’t aware of these. Long story short, I was able to order a handful of these gages for a fraction of the cost of just one length of the steel shafts and was easily able to test each size and determine which size would best work for my project. As a bonus, I was also able to test the calibration of my dial indicators as well. Another unexpected purchase that worked out perfectly. The machined quality of these gages was just amazing and each one had a mirror finish with the size laser etched right into the gage.

Needed this to make sure my digital calipers were all reading right, turns out one was off by .04mm, which is alot in my line of work. Now I know, and that is great. Can't beat the price either.

Needed a small steel pin to replace a broken one for a hobby project and this worked great and was the exact specifications described which was very important to me as this had to fit within .001 of an inch to work for me.
