Ehhh....not as good as I originally thought
This is my second review and a follow-up to my first review. I originally gave these pants a four-star rating, but now I’m dropping that to three stars.I said before that the pants were holding up well under all of my workloads (facilities maintenance), but almost as if it were divine intervention— the pants have started to show a lack in durability since posting my last review.Don’t get me wrong. For the price point that I paid (about $25-$30 per pair), they still aren’t too bad. But I am going on about four months now of wearing three pairs interchangeably, and they are starting to exponentially wear out.On one pair, I had a bush branch poke a hole through the calf portion of the the right leg. The hole has continuously gotten bigger and bigger with each passing day. These pants are certainly not true “ripstop” pants, though they look like it at a glance. On all three pairs, I have seam threads coming apart at all of the pockets, but especially the back pockets.I was definitely hoping to see at least a good six months before seeing these signs of wear, but I do understand the mantra— you get what you pay for.I still have the same opinions of the hammer loop. I never use it. I never see anyone else consistently use it. I still believe that the left-leg pocket should be slightly deeper, and there should be an identical pocket on the right leg, replacing the hammer loop.Hopefully, I won’t feel the need to come bump these down again to two stars in the future. However, whether I do that or not, I don’t think I will purchase these pants again. In the trades, every dollar you spend replacing/repairing your tools, equipment, and even clothing, is a dollar you don’t get to take home to your family.Next time, I think I will just buy once, and cry once.

not the same pants...
Riggs Workwear Carpenter Jeans have been my every day pants for decades — FIVE STARS. The last pair I bought had dropped two belt loops off the back, so anything you carry on your belt slides around to the small of your back instead of staying where you put it behind your hip (and they will bunch up funny if you use a belt to cinch up winter pants in the summer). This purchase has that problem plus — the inseam is smaller, the waist is smaller, the rise is shorter, the zipper is shorter. Not enough to make it seem like an incorrect size label, but like the pattern or the quality control has changed along with some of the detail work. Just enough that they don't really fit well. The most comfortable pants ever may have become barely tolerable.Update: It's not quality control. I've spent the past three months waiting for an exchange or explanation from Wrangler. They too pants back and sent a replacement pair, but no explanation. They measure exactly the same, and are wrong in exactly the same ways. Apparently Wrangler has just decided to make them wrong. Old 32s still fit well but are no longer presentable; new 32s I can't zip or button or bend over. Old 34s fall off my hips, but I'm still deciding whether to spend the time and money to see whether larger pants will work.

Quality materials, but the fit is absolutely terrible for anyone with human proportions.
The quality of the construction seems fine, but the design of the fit is absolutely horrible.Previously, I tried a 34x36 (my usual pant size, i'm 6'6" @ 205lbs) and I couldn't even get the waist to close on the pants, but everything else looked like it would have fit correctly. This time I tried ordering the next size up - 36x36. It was like some kind of bad joke pant, the waist fit loose enough I could pull the pants down without unsnapping them, and the legs looked like MC Hammer pants from the 90s... could have fit three of my legs in them.

but not nearly as bad as the shorts version
A little tight in thigh, but not nearly as bad as the shorts version. The point of pockets is to put things in them. If putting things in the pocket makes it so tight that one cannot retrieve anything from the pockets, it defeats the purpose. I was looking for a cooler, lighter weight alternative to the relaxed fit Wrangler Jeans. These are okay, but apparently some designer is confusing "work pants" with "check out my tight butt at the disco".

The size I always purchase but to tight at the waist.
I purchased the jeans because I wanted the freedom of movement that they provide without spending three times the money that another retailer charges for their jeans of the same quality. I already have three pair of the cargo style and they fit just fine, probably a little on the larger side than I like and are just 1 inch larger in the waist than all my other Wrangler jeans but when I purchased them I was about 20 lbs. heaver. I also have about 25 pair of the Wrangler carpenter jeans and short all in the same size and they all fix fine, maybe a little loose around the waist. So when I purchasing these Wranglers carpenter jeans I purchased the same size as every other pair that I own. Much to my dismay they are to tight and it was a struggle to get them buttoned around my waist. One pair had a missing belt loop. I waited to long to return them to Amazon because I was hoping that they would relax after washing and it was winter so I was wearing flannel lined Wranglers. So after opening the second pair of four and finding the belt loop missing I decided to return them to Wrangler. After contacting them and explaining to them the problem I was having they sent me a return label and I returned them. I'm currently waiting for my returned merchandise in the correct size and with all the belt loops.

Zipper is a Mile Long
I'm another big boy that wears pants out too quickly. So I turned to these and must say everything I've read in reviews is spot on. Now I didn't seem to have the inseam length problem as so many have stated before me, but I have a different issue that I'm willing to overlook as I love these pants so far. I wear my pantsbon my hips, as I suspect most guys do. If I were to wear my pants truly around my waist and big belly I would need to shop at King Kongmart. These pants fit awesome in every facet BUT the zipper isn't short like a pair of jeans. This zipper seems to be a mile long as the material of the pants is truly meant to be around my gut but i don't wear them like that so it's an awkward weird zip up when putting in these pants. Once their zipped up they wear and feel great!

As always, excellent quality and fit - but..............
For the price these are excellent quality 'work' jeans. They are generously sized, very comfortable and built to last. Indeed, they look good in most situations. As always, my only gripe is the shipping which, once again, was atrocious. However, at least this time they did turn up eventually!I see that Amazon Global started charging for shipping soon after I made this order. I wonder whether this will improve matters as over the last 6 months, 4 of my similar orders have gone awry.Alas, UK customer service for these orders from the USA is effectively non-existent and bordering on the illegal. Remember, your contract of sale is with Amazon UK and the UK Sale of Goods Act applies. Alas, they try to claim otherwise which can constitute an illegal contract. As I said, these are excellent jeans but come with dubious customer care and support. Hence my rating of 4 stars - the jeans themselves deserve better.Update September 24 2020. I have just also purchased the denim version of these work jeans. They are brilliant, a good fit, very strong yet comfortable. Even better, I ordered them Tuesday afternoon and they arrived Thursday morning. Extraordinary!

A reluctant 5 stars
Don't get me wrong, I am very pleased with these jeans. They fit well, are well made and look good too!In particular, I appreciate additional belt loops (front and rear) on the larger waist sizes, the ripstop cotton material and the colour (loden green). However, I am concerned by the poor service offered by Amazon Global. I have made 8 total orders with them this year. Of which, 2 never turned up and this one went 'walkabout' only to eventually turn up unadvertised and soaking wet in a neighbour's garden...So, in that regard, beware. Getting a refund or redress is tortuous. Importantly, don't be bullied and insist on your rights.

My best choice in denim for a long time
These are the best jeans I've purchased in many a year. They're truly heavy-weight, roomy and triple stitched at all points of stress with capacious pockets. I've been waiting for this style of jean to make a resurgence and here they are at last. Odious as comparisons are, I begin to think that Wrangler USA might have kicked Levis' off my mental pedestal. Wonderful product. I love Riggs Workwear!!
