I hadn't heard of dry brushing before, but am always interested in things that will improve my skin and circulation. I don't like hard bristles or such rough surfaces that they hurt. This isn't painful at all - quite the opposite! I've been working on getting rid of keratosis pilaris (those little white or red bumps some people get on the back of their upper arms, thighs, or backside, made up of thick protein plugs that block hair follicles) - I've gotten rid of the nasty icks on the back of my upper arms and now am focused on eradicating it on my legs. Keratosis pilaris is worsened by dry skin, but lotions and moisturizers don't seem to do much to combat it for me. I need something that will get into the follicles and cause a ruckus. Enter this dry brush.My skin is immediately softer and just FEELS healthier after dry brushing. (Sounds dumb, but true!) I don't have to press real hard with this brush - the bristles feel like they are stiff enough to make a visual difference, but aren't painful or scratchy. While dry brushing prior to jumping in the shower, I can almost picture all the little poor clogging nasties being forced from the comfy little homes they made on my skin and in my folliclces. I have even noticed that I can get an extra half day (or so) from shaving when I dry brush prior to lathering up my legs. This dry brush is the only one I've ever tried, but I am not having as many ingrown hairs from shaving, either. I doubt it's coincidence. I sincerely think my body wash works better after dry brushing - I feel like the body wash ingredients actually have time to absorb into my skin and actually work. It's safe to say that this is one of the few skin care items one would have to PRY from my cold, dead hands...and there would be enormous risk that I would haunt that person eternally. ;)I've used a body pouf with various body washes for years. This is a much different experience - this brush removes so much more dead skin and impurities than a pouf could ever touch. The wood on the handle and the backside of the bristles is very smooth and beautiful - I've never gotten a splinter, or felt like I had to be careful to avoid splinters. This fits nicely in my hand, but my only tiny complaint is that I wish the band going across the back was made of stretchier elastic and was applied much tighter. This portion of the brush slides easily onto the handle and seems to be pretty secure. I don't know how it will hold up long term, but for the three weeks I've been using this item, it still fits well into the slot.The bristles are a natural grass - I think boar bristles would be too stiff and produce a drastically different experience. The "give" of these bristles is what makes this brush such a true pleasure to use. You also receive a hook and a bag for brush storage - the end of the handle has a nice cotton loop from which to hang the brush. Cleaning this brush is very easy. I have seen similar brushes at various stores for more than twice the price of this one - it's a great value here and I would run to grab one. The quality is outstanding, the bristles feel so good, the whole process only takes a couple of minutes (and you enjoy results for much, much longer than a few minutes!), the price is extremely fair, the results are immediate and noticeable, the exfoliation level is amazing, and the body brush is versatile. Why are you still reading this review? Are you seriously still considering whether you should get one??I'm not sure how someone with very sensitive skin would fare with this - adjusting the touch pressure (brisk vs gentle) may render this helpful for any type of skin. The benefits I have seen (and felt) on my own skin prompts me to recommend this to anyone, but I have a friend who has such sensitive skin that it would probably jump off her body if it ever even saw this product in her house. I'm sure that any type of skin just a little tougher than that would love this. It only takes a minute or two to totally change the condition of your skin - I can't wait to see how this changes my normally dry, dull, Denver-winter skin.

I bought my first brush approximately one year ago and have been using it almost daily since. It is just the right amount of stimulating to get the lymphatic system working better. My skin condition has improved remarkably. It is softer and smoother. At the same time I have made some lifestyle and diet changes which also may have contributed to cleaner healthier skin. I just bought my second brush that I will be gifting to my mother-in-law for her birthday this April. Yes, you read it correctly "Mother-In-Law". ;) She currently uses an old wooden back scratcher to relieve itching on the back. It's Murphy's law that if you get an itch it will happen where you can't reach it without a device. Our arms just can't reach those hard to get to areas. This brush gets me to all those areas with easy. I also used to use a wooden back scratcher when my back would itch. I would have to scratch with that old wooden back scratcher sometimes until drawing blood to get relief. Using this brush to scratch your back feels so amazing it is almost euphoric and stops the itch very quickly. Brushing before sleep time works wonders for me. I would highly recommend this brush and the exercise of complete body brushing daily to everyone, especially helpful as we age. Cheers!

This does the job! Consistency is key when using this! It's so important to exfoliate and as long as you have the time and will to do it, it's so worth it. It releases toxins as well as makes the skin so much smoother. I highly recommend it! I took off a star only because the head could be a bit larger. I prefer to use it on dry skin, although I've heard some people use this in the shower and if you aren't one to be consistent in using it dry, it's not a bad idea to use it to clean yourself instead. Will still give you the exfoliation you need and you're likely to use it more often if you keep it in the shower.

I use this to dry brush before showering to get my blood flow and circulation going. I was a little nervous that the bristles would be too rough (I have somewhat sensitive skin) but the bristles on the brush actually feel very nice. If I apply too much pressure I could see my skin getting irritated but with a medium-light brushing it feels very nice. I would definitely recommend this brush if you are looking for a good brush to use for dry brushing. The switch from long handle to no handle is very easy, simply slide the handle in and out of the notch. Very sturdy construction. Oh! Best part... it came with one of those command hooks so that I can store it hanging. Really nice touch!

I looked at a lot of dry brushes before I settled on this one. I wanted a long handle with the option of removing the brush because I wanted to brush my back. I couldn't brush my back without a long handle. The brush easily removes from the handle or re-installs easily. The bristles are natural and are not harsh on the skin. It feels good to brush. I am new to dry brushing, but am glad I started it. My skin is much softer and it will have positive effects on my health. A medical professional recommended that I start dry brushing. I thought it would take a lot of time, but it probably takes about 5 minutes.

I absolutely love this brush! I use it most days after showering and have seen an improvement in my skin texture. I have not seen any improvements in my bacne or razor bumps on the back of my thighs but I will keep watching for that. It truly helps to take off the dead skin. After I shower, my legs used to itch to the point that it would drive my insane! No matter what body wash or lotion I was using, this itch craze would happen. WELL, after I started to use this brush, my legs do not itch as much and I cannot wait to keep using it!! I like how the brush is universal and I can detach it from the long handle. I also like that it comes with a carrying case for when I travel.
