Sequel elevates the series
All Souls Near & Nigh, the second book in Hailey Turner’s Soulbound series, is a five-star novel. I rarely give five-star ratings, but Turner demonstrates how a sequel can truly elevate a series. She brings New York City to life as a dark, thrilling paranormal landscape, filled with unique supernatural dynamics that transform the familiar into the extraordinary. In this book, Patrick is learning to adjust to his relationship with Jono, and their connection feels authentic and layered. Patrick is used to his independence, so moving in with someone else—and learning to compromise—feels new and challenging. For instance, he sacrifices his smoking habit, aware of how Jono’s heightened sense of smell as a werecreature makes it tough to live with. These kinds of sacrifices show Patrick’s growing commitment and add a realistic layer to their relationship, making it feel relatable even within a supernatural context. The central conflict centers on a string of mysterious werecreature deaths in New York City’s subway tunnels. This storyline introduces Wade, a scrappy, always-hungry teenager with a magnetic personality, who comes under Patrick and Jono's care. Wade is such a refreshing, unpredictable addition to the story, adding both levity and intrigue. I’m eager to see how his character develops in future books and how he continues to challenge Patrick and Jono’s relationship and responsibilities.Though the novel starts at a slower pace, it quickly picks up, maintaining a gripping, adventurous rhythm. Turner’s richly detailed fight scenes bring NYC's train tunnels to life, capturing the eerie atmosphere of the city's underground. Just when it seems like the conflict is resolved, Turner masterfully twists the plot, setting the stage for even bigger challenges in book three.Fans of urban fantasy with rich worldbuilding, LGBTQ+ representation, and complex, genuine relationships will love All Souls Near & Nigh. This series continues to offer strong character dynamics, high-stakes action, and a darkly fascinating view of New York’s supernatural side. Turner has made this sequel both exciting and emotionally rewarding, leaving readers eager for what’s next.

I could not put it down!
**Possible Spoilers**All Souls Near & Nigh is an excellent continuation of the Soulbound Series, and is filled with almost non-stop action. Even though the scope of the battles is not as big and overwhelming as in the first book, the intensity is just as strong and is wonderfully graphic. There are blood and gore, broken bodies and decapitations. Mmmmm, juicy stuff. The diversity of the different supernatural groups and characters keeps the reader engaged and the main characters and their immediate associates constantly on guard. The change in status among the core group gives secondary characters the opportunity to take a more active role in the action. The introduction of more Gods and Goddesses, unfamiliar to me but interesting nonetheless, keep the series fresh s as do the new secondary characters. Wade is particularly worthy of note. He is a quintessential teenager with the ability to bring down buildings. I hope to see more of him in subsequent books.Throw in some of the Gods and other characters that played no small part in the success of the guys in the first book, and you have an amalgamation of power that could create power struggles that can destroy cities. As they prepare and execute their strategies in what is more or less a supernatural turf war, Jono and Patrick, still at times tentative with each other, ultimately lean on each other to overcome these latest foes. Their connection is growing and is proving to be about more than just the soulbond. They can give and take as needed to function in their roles as law enforcement, God pack Alpha and soul bound mate. It's beautiful really, the way they accept each other. And when they connect physically, the passion is intense and life-affirming for them.Gods, monsters, men, and mayhem. There's something for everyone. And, there is a freaking gargoyle! I hope we can see more gargoyles. The author engages the reader’s imagination putting them right into the action. I have been looking forward to the release of All Souls Near & Nigh. I became invested in the lives of Patrick and Jono. The author, amid thenonstop action, made me care about these two and their supporters and I was cheering, groaning, laughing and crying right along with them.I’m not familiar with a lot of the deities mentioned, I never was one for mythology, but the author uses them in a way that I don't have to rush to read some dusty tome to figure out who, what and why they are. All of the characters are interesting, well placed and believable.I look forward to book three.

A damn good story.
It’s interesting and fast paced. I know the 2 main characters have a soul bond and love each other but they still haven’t SAID it and it’s killing me lol.I took a star away bc there were points where I felt the stories detail were a little excessive and I wanted more romance. Not just talking about sex but intimate moments where Patrick could be something other than “on the case/on the clock”.That said it was a damn good story and me taking a star away may or may not be “fair” bc this is more of an action story than a romance story. That said, this is my review and in my opinion the story as a whole would have had more nuance with a higher level of romance to fight scene ratio. Will definetely be reading the next one though. Happy reading!
