Hello,Here are the specs.10"3/4 Hight, 18" Length, 9'1/2 deep. These are total dimensions. Take about an inch off of above and that would be your usable space.

Does this come with storage boxes in the side compartments?

The description if you read it says it comes with 3 boxes. So if you don't get it then you need to return it because it is supposed to come with them.

Does it rust ? How does it hold up overall

This is one of my most reliable tackle boxes. It’s light and quick to use. Everything is handy. The only thing I would encourage the manufacture to do is to add the 2 x side plastic boxes one must buy in addition. A solid addition to my inventory.
