While it say carb compliant, it also says this item can not be shipped to your selected loacation (in california). what's up?

I just spoke with Amazon Customer Service (7/22/2019). It IS TRUE that this item cannot be shipped to CA, apparently because of a complaint from/by/with/to? the California Air Resources Board (CARB) about this particular item. There is no complaint about the 2-1/12 gallon can, and there is no further information available. Anyway, it's not a mistake.

Is there a marker line indicating what a gallon is? It's very faint in the picture. Just want to make sure.

a big problem for me & others is that the visibility of the lines indicating gallon marks is not at all clear nor is the ability to see how much gas you have in the container. The so-called translucent strips are not helpful. For those of us mixing a 50:1 ethanol-free gas to 2-cycle engine oil combination, and making one gallon at a time, this task becomes frustrating. What happened to companies and products that actually used their products? The childhood proof safety caps are a royal pain so I simply snap them off, otherwise get the cap to fill the container is overly challenging.

Is there supposed to be an o ring on the cap/spout? Mine doesn’t have one and it’s leaking badly.

There is a black o-ring around yellow part of the cap, about 1/4” recessed from the end.

Is there a filter to trap sediment, solid particles?

Yes, there is a plastic filter built into the cap mechanism. Not as fine as mesh, but it will do the trick. It's a really great and easy to use gas can. highly recommended.
