Is the internal ball brass or plastic

I have bought these for years. Over the last year and a half I have bought three more, and ALL of them have had the ball bearing and it's white plastic gasket justs falls out while I'm holding it 3 months to a year within purchasing them. Used to be good .. now are junk

Is it made in the usa

No, not entirely. The Machined brass body, and all internal components are Made in USA while the externals -- the lock nut, the screw, and the forged brass handle -- are made in China. The back of the item package labeling says "Assembled in USA of US & foreign components".

Exactly how much does the handle extend beyond main part of the valve? I have an application that is not on a hose where clearance matters.

7/8". The valve body is machined from a hexagon bar, 1.25" across the flats.

Can the shut off lever be turned 180 degrees so the on position is on the male side? Thanks John

It looks like it can be turned 180. The end of the threaded shaft that is visable has two flats. However, the body is a 1-1/4 in. hex. So a female hose connection greater than 1-1/4 in. dia. would interfere with the lever and not allow full turn on. A simple brass female hose coupling should clear.
