Monarchs Butterfly Music Jewelry Box

I bought this music box for my nine-year-old granddaughter, who just began wearing and collecting earrings. I wanted a way for her to store her growing jewelry collection and this charming music box is ideal. It is whimsical enough for her to enjoy and useful enough to do the job.The music box is well-constructed, with a tiny rotating figure which appears when the box is opened...my granddaughter was delighted at the dancing figure and the music.The box also contains several pull-out drawers, making it a perfect storage place for tiny ear studs.Because it is so delicate, however, I wouldn't think this would be a great gift for a very young girl, unless an adult took charge of it. There are moving parts which rough play could damage or break off.

My team and I pulled together and purchased this for our manager who happens to have a Monarch Butterfly garden. She's always talking about how she takes care of her 'babies' and cries every time she releases them into the world. Needless to say, we knew she would totally love this as soon as she saw the box. Once delivered, I opened the box to see how it looked before wrapping it. Everything was fine except one of the knobs was coming off. Just a little tightening of the screw and everything was well. The day finally came for our potluck and she looked stressed from the rush of the day. When we presented her with her gift all we could see was this huge smile on her face. She opened the lid and she almost started crying because the butterfly inside looked just like the one she just released two weeks ago. She later told me that she collects music boxes and this was going to fit in nicely. This is a perfect gift idea that would bring an instant smile to someone's face.

I purchased this as a Santa gift for my daughter in October. I loved my music box as a child. Seemed like the perfect gift. I received the item in October, but didn't check the product in the box. I was saving it for Christmas. When my daughter opened it Christmas morning, the music winder looked like it had been over-wound and didn't work. I checked Amazon, and the return period was expired. I shopped early for Christmas, and couldn't return the product without incurring cost...even though the product was not working.I called the 800 number on the box, and they gave me the number to distribution. I called distribution, and after a couple of messages back and forth over the holiday week, the rep said they had them in inventory, and he would send me one at no charge. And, I didn't have to ship the other back.Let me say...1. Check the return policy on online orders2. Check your product in the box when you receive itReeves, the distributor had wonderful customer service, and I got the replacement/working product within a week! THANK YOU!!! You made my holiday!

I got this for a 9yr old girl on a Christmas Angel Tree, so I don't know her reaction to it. For myself I loved the appearance of it, but I was disappointed in the storage space. The drawers are very tiny--only a couple of inches deep. I wish I had seen the larger one-compartment box.It is a slick-paper wrapped sturdy cardboard box, and seemed to be well made for what it is, but it wouldn't stand up to much abuse. I especially liked the butterfly, and music.I had two music jewelery boxes as a child and I still have them and treasure them to this day--I'm 56. I was wanting to give something that would provide this child with a similar experience but I'm not sure this box is substantial enough to provide this over the long term. Still I really liked it, and for the right child in the right circumstances it would be a treasure.

This was a special retirement gift for my daughter's first grade teacher. She was a very hands on teacher and when the class studied insects, my daughter and I supplied the monarch butterfly caterpillars and leaves, so this jewelry box was the perfect gift. Besides the twirling butterfly, it has lots of little secret drawers both front and back. The teacher loved it and I've bought a second one to give to my daughter for her birthday. I know when they play their music boxes and see the butterflies twirl, they'll think of each other for years to come.

The art on the box is beautiful, the music plays nicely, and the special little drawers on the sides on the box are a hit with my daughter. She has been carrying this thing around since Christmas day, plays the music every night as she falls asleep, and loves just rearranging all of her jewelry in it a few times a day! And the box itself is sturdy enough that I don't have to worry about it being damaged if she drops it.

My little girl was wanting this jewelry box from Santa Claus. I purchased it put it in her stocking, Christmas morning came and she was so excited! She was using it later on in the day and the Butterfly popped off and I essentially had to hot glue gun it back on and it still kept coming off. Pretty disappointed little girl and I'm not too happy considering it was $30. In my opinion it is not worth the money and I would not recommend it because it is junk.

I do not normally review items on here. But, I had to because I buy on here a lot and have never been so mad about something I bought as I am about this music box. I got this for my daughter who is 4. She is gentle with her toys and loved this and knew to be careful with it. On Christmas morning she wanted to open it and hear the music and we did. Once we opened it and closed it one single time, the butterfly part broke and is unfixable. I was really upset, I thought this would be a nice lasting music box she could have for a long time because I had one and it lasted me all my childhood. The newer types of these seem less durable than the ones like I had where it was just a deep box with one lid and not the extra hidden drawers. This is definitely flawed in its design because it is ruined and I plan to throw it out and buy her something vintage or different on here, I am sad because the box is beautiful but her favorite part of it-the music and spinning butterfly, is ruined forever after 2-3 minutes of use.
