Practical advice!
I occasionally give sermons in the pulpit of my church. I’ve used every one of these techniques and have been successful. Great set of lectures!

On target!
Professor Hale's presentations and selections of material are very helpful and insightful. I have been using them as an adjunct to my presentations in a public speaking course. They provide variety and reinforcement for the principles and practices that I encourage students to adopt for their public speaking development.

History of Public Speaking
I'm rating this video as 4 stars because this film is really a presentation of the history of public speaking. Although I learned about the history of the topic, I was looking for a breakdown/lesson of giving a motivational presentation (like a Ted Talk).

Well Organized and Delivered Well
I was so enjoying the lectures on public speaking that when I got to the end I felt sad that they ended. I wanted to keep listening to them even though it was over. I appreciated the work that went into preparing the lectures as it was very well done.

Cover image is deceitful.
The Bad:I really was interested in this lecture because I thought it would have clips or recordings of the actual speeches and then critique or lecture about them. It does not. Furthermore I felt that if it had a picture of Kennedy on the front then thaty meant we would learn about his orator skills as well. There is no mention of him. I do not feel that the lecturer is the best person to give a class on public speaking. I do not feel that the lecturer is the best person to teach about public speaking. He is very stiff, appears slightly unanimated and not a good example of what he is teaching. As I public speaker I feel that an orator should be more dynamic and memorable. The Good:There is some good information in this lecture series. The theory taught in this lecture series is accurate and helpful in my opinion. Public speaking is discussed from a historical standpoint as well and I found it to be helpful in how theory of public speaking has developed.
