Flotec Pool Cover Pump

I've had this pump for two years. It does pump water out at a rapid rate. My biggest complaint is that the filter will clog up and you have to remove the 3 screws on the bottom to access the filters and clean them. You have to repeat this cycle many times during the winter. The screws eventually become stripped and very difficult to remove. Additionally, my pump completely died today. There appears to be oil residue mixed with the water on top of the pool. After a few minutes the pump quit. I disconnected the hose and smoke was coming out. Probably not a good thing. I have ordered another brand. We'll see how that goes.

We hate this pump! It does not pump water continuously--rather it does short, five second bursts of pumping when there is water on the cover. This means that it takes several days to clear water off of our cover after a big rain or snow. It also often just stops pumping water altogether and has to be reset manually. That means we wake up and find that the pump hasn't worked all night long and now the cover is strained from all the water. I am shopping for a new pump today after trying to make do with this one for several months.
