How many milimeters across is the wide part of the thimble? Need for sizing information.

It's made from silicone I believe & it will definitely stretch to fit most fingers. I use it when I do hand sewing & mending. Does what it's supposed to do with no problems.

Can you push needle with the side too? Does anyone use the tip of the finger?

The tip “could” be used for pushing the needle but the reinforced side is stronger. It’s a convenient tool and would be too cumbersome if it was reinforced around the whole area.

I asked about it fitting over a swollen joint. I forgot to add that I ordered an XL traditional thimble and it was too small, so just wondering?
