better than the plastic hardware store models...
I was getting tired of fighting with the two plastic hose reels I've used for years. These hose reels are a step up in ease of operation. Good sized crank handle, and the reel is a decent size. After reading some reviews I can address a few problems other have had.First, the crank handle screws onto the reel shaft. This means when you first install the hose be sure to wind the hose in the direction that TIGHTENS the crank!!! If the handle is unscrewing when you wind in the hose you have it wound backwards!!!! Too oblivious, but some folks missed it.Second... for those who managed to mangle the hose going to the faucet, read the directions. The swivel will be stiff until the O'rings are broken in. Add a few drops of oil if needed, or support the connecting hose when reeling.Assembly was easy as pie. I was able to figure it out from the photos. Unit was well packed, and no items were missing. The manual warns about the poor paint job from the factory. To be safe, I ordered a few cans of tan Rustoleum spray from Amazon and I plan to give the frame a few additional coats of paint, with extra attention paid to lower axle support welds. It is rather sad that an owner has to do this on new units, but at least the factory advises the owners in advance to clear spray the product. I chose to overspray with paint. The cart is fairly stable and I like the side reel feature when keeps the buggy steady when reeling in or pulling out hose. The frame could be a bit sturdier. I do not consider this to be commercial grade, but it is a decent home owner level product. I'd strongly suggest keeping it garaged when possible, especially over winter months. The hose swivel allows for the hoses to be easily disconnected to ensure the metal parts are fully drained for storage during freezes. I've had a few plastic reels destroyed by freezes because removing the hoses was a very difficult task.I can't comment on the tire problems other have faced, but hopefully replacement inner tubes are cheap if needed....I bought two of these, one for the front yard and one for the back yard. They aren't exactly lawn art, being more functional than artistic... they are fairly large units. I have about 150 feet of 5/8" hose on each cart. I'd suggest winding a new hose on a hot day to ensure the hose is pliable, my hoses were a bit stiff when purchased.

Great Product and product Support!
Love this hose cart! Light weight but sturdy. Holds my extra long hose no problem. Came with an odd tire that was kind of squared off and flat. Aired up the tire and couple of weeks later it was flat again. I emailed the manufacturer and to my amazement and joy I got a new tire! Amazing customer service! How refreshing to not have to fight for what is right.

JUNK!!! Poor Quality. Poor Design. Flimsy. Rusted Out. NOT POWDER COATED. Mechanical Failures. ...
There is nothing "industrial" about this hose reel cart. The item is poorly designed and is poorly built. The item uses small diameter tubing resulting in a flimsy cart. The reel is on the small side and uses an odd and not durable hose attachment mechanism. The welds on the tubing are open (not closed/sealed) which results in a weaker weld and more importantly allows water into the unprotected tubing which will exacerbate rust issues. The item claims to be "powder coated", but it is NOT. The finish easily chips and flakes like poor quality paint (not powder coat). Powder coat is a resin that is heat fused to the base metal. It is desirable because it very durable and does not chip or flake like paint. However, the item I received had a poor finish that had many chips exposing bare metal that already had rust right out of the box.In summary, this is JUNK. After just 1 year, the item rusted out and failed. The paint just flacked off with rust underneath. As the pictures show, my new unit even came pre-rusted out of the box. Check out the many reviews that state rust is a problem. Also note that RUST and moving parts are explicitly EXCLUDED in the warranty, which makes the WARRANTY USELESS.Compared to my old 4 wheel hose cart (similar to the green carts offered by others on Amazon), this item is junk. My 15 year old green cart (also made in China) is larger, more sturdy, uses larger diameter tubing with fully closed welds, and the finish on it after 15 years has fewer chips than this band new cart. You are better off buying a high quality resin cart than this one.

Will Not be the Last Hose Reel You Will Buy
The Liberty Garden Products 870-M1-2 hose reel is definitely a mixed bag. From a design and use perspective, I couldn't be more pleased. The system performs well making it easy to move and store bulky garden hoses. I had three concerns going in. One, would it tip over when pulling hose off the reel? Despite its relatively light weight, the bearings allow the hose to unwind with no problems. Two, would the rotary hose coupling leak? This was a constant issue with two previous plastic resin units I have owned until they became useless. After a dozen or so uses, it doesn't leak a drop. So far Liberty Gardens knocked it out of the ball park. The third issue I was forewarned about in these reviews. That relates to the durability of the unit. The first concern in this regard I noticed was the use of a galvanized connector to join brass components. Bad idea Liberty. Saved you a dollar or two but will cause the owner problems down the road. Most of the parts seem to have a heavy paint coating but I took extra precautions and coated everything with a heavy marine corrosion inhibitor. What I could not coat was the interior of the tubing which is bare steel. There are places where water can get inside and out will pour rust. The same is true anywhere the exterior coating is compromised. Perhaps I can get a few more months of life by storing it in the garage. Given the thin wall tubing, I don't think it would last long stored outside.
