Vostok company story starts back in 1942, when one of the Moscow watch-making plants has been evacuated from Moscow to a little town Chistopol located on the Kama River. Defense equipment was the only company output during war years, but as soon as the war was over Vostok started to make mechanical wrist watches - the main production item ever since. In 1965 Vostok company was appointed an official supplier of watches for the Defense Department of the Soviet Union. This year marks the creation of the world-famous "Komandirskie" ("Commander") watch. Military watch grew very popular even with people who were unaware which end of the gun bullet comes off, mainly due to high precision, excessive reliability and durability. The appearance of the watch also contributes to its appeal - functional and clear-cut design invoked the feeling of belonging to the tough world of combat professional. The experience which Vostok gained through development of the army watch was the foundation of our next special watch - "Amphibian". This impressive timepiece in stainless-steel case endured the depth of 2000 meters - kind of a wrist submarine. Success of the professional watches determined the company's present philosophy - to create mechanical watches maintaining precise timekeeping at any temperature, in any environment, surviving heavy pressure and blows. The viability of the chosen strategy is now time-proven. A vast multitude of people both in Russia and abroad boasting "Vostok" watches and various international prizes awarded for high quality and commercial success testify to this. In 1996 Vostok started a partnership with US "Capital Trading" company aiming to create a new generation timepiece. The watch assembled to US sales by Sputnik TM technology.

love the meat ball seconds hand!
- classically good watch - purchased for the wife unit as a fun watch, and she was absolutely delighted by the looks, the movement, and the comfort on the wrist- living near the tropics and swimming on the Gulf of Mexico requires stainless bands for our watches- this Blue Scuba Dude Amphibia is a bargain for its features and performance - the movement can be hand-wound, but offers the convenience of automatic winding- time and date was easy to set - surprised at the ease of the 'rapid calendar advance' feature: 8->12->8->12, etc.- band is more comfortable than cheaper Seiko 5 bracelets- easy to remove links to size the bracelet (took two out for the wife unit)- movement keeps good time - more accurate than a 7S26 out of the box without regulation!- lume is sub-par, but OK for short usegreat watch - a real bargain for an automatic that can be hand wound and with 200m water resistance!

Wonderful Watch
Beautiful watch that is a bargain, rugged and keeps time accurately. It has a lot of unique engineering features absent in conventional watches. I may have to buy another one because I love it so much. Mine has the resin strap and it is flexible and very comfortable

Charming and fun watch
This is a really nice diver for casual wear. It has a lot of old school charm. I thought the 15mm thickness would bother me, but it’s pretty light for an automatic and the 39 ish mm diameter makes it comfy even with a NATO strap. I love that teal blue dial and the acrylic crystal adds to the charm. Much has been said about the infamous Vostok stem. Yes, it is finicky but I like it. Both hand and auto winding is great at this price point. I can see why some love this iconic and quirky Russian doll. That said, I agree that it is primarily only going to appeal to watch collectors or those looking for a little quirk on their wrists. I’m both.

Scuba dude is the real thing!
What a great surprise! For the price I wasnt expecting much but I saw great reviews for this watch and the Vostok brand itself but I didnt think it was true. I thought it was fluff, but when I received it, it was all eye opening. First, I appreciate the small minimal package. The box is small like timex or casio which I like because it takes less material and compact. Then you open it and this bright shiny watch peeks at you bright eye. The dial is a teal color with polish bezel and case. The shine and it's small 39mm case is tastefully done. If it were bigger it would be too much but keeping it's small size is perfect for an everyday watch. And for the crystal, we all know it is an acrylic crystal and could scratch easy but a small poly watch could do the fix. Finally the resin band is so good. Seiko has a tougher feeling strap compared to this. I think I can comfortably wear this all day. But, I have to come forth and say that I do plan on changing the bezel to a Seiko style because I like the bigger sized bezel. And have a silver insert, I might update here with a completed product. With that being said, I really like this product and would put it in my rotation.

Quite A Nice Watch
I am not a collector, this watch was purchased for everyday use and after wearing it for a week and a half I am pleased with the purchase. As other reviewers have mentioned this watch is lighter weight than expected, I find that this is a good thing and helps to make it seem less obtrusive on the wrist. I chose the 420 case for it's smaller profile and this has also helped with wearability. Shipping from Russia via DHL right at two weeks with no problems. Watch keeps respectable time thus far and is plenty attractive ( I have a teal-blue scuba dude with light gray NATO strap). I am pleased with both the product and the seller at this point and would recommend them both to others. Very much hoping to get the advertised 10 year service life out of this one.

Russian POS!
I bought this watch because of its nice combination of Scuba capability and not bad looking either for daily use. It is advertised as being useful to 200M, 660 feet depth. Unfortunately it flooded at a mere 120 feet of depth a couple of weeks ago in Bonaire. I notified the Amazon seller and received a response from someone named Sergey who gave instructions to remove the back. I responded with my concern that the watch flooded with SALT water - salt, as most folks know, inevitably causes corrosion. This was over a week ago, neither Sergey or anyone else has chosen to respond - in the meantime the watch crown has totally seized solid making it impossible to set the time - although the second hand still sweeps. I have to conclude that a), the watch is really not built for service to 660 feet, and b) the sellers have chosen to hit the "ignore" button. Buyer beware, this was a little too good to be true.
