I just received a pair, but the caps on the eyepieces are very large. Do other users have the same caps?

The caps and the arm strap leave alot to be desired. The caps keep falling off and the strap is a bit short. I finally figured out that you use the straps to carry glasses while they are in the cover. They really could have done better. One more point, I purchased the tripod adapter which helps keep glasses more stable when viewing objects that are far away especially for nifht sky viewing and kids use.

Can you see the planes, such as rings of Saturn and Jupiter moons?

Yes you can observed Jupiter moons very easy. Saturn’s rings are slightly visibles but you need to used the maximum zoom an try to not move the binoculars (need a tripode). You will not see the details of the rings. Also you can observe the Orion Nebula. Earth moon details are very easy to see. The International Space Station is very easy to see when it is visible in your region.

what tripod would be good for this?

I have a Promaster 6400 tripod and a Manfrotto monopod. Both work great especially while zooming in.
