It consumes camera's battery.
I think current flows backwards between the solar cell and the camera's battery. The camera's battery is valid for 3 weeks without a solar panel.During the day, the camera's battery appears to be full, and at night, the low-level battery warning appears. If this panel is not connected and the camera is fully charged, it will last for 3 weeks, but when this panel is connected, a battery low-level warning will appear every night and sometimes the camera was off even the day if i's cloudy.

It recharges our hemivision camera now
Does not work. Hemivision battery has been warning 15 and now 9 percent power. It is positioned correctly and has full sun for 6 to 8 hours (live in south Florida and it is mounted on the roof facing the sun). It is not recharging the camera and we found out now after the return date closed due to hemivisions long battery life. So sad !!!10/26/20 - New information `` My husband got up on the ladder and worked on the camera / solar panel. He found that the plug into the camera was unplugged. He plugged it back in and it started charging then the next day it stopped again... After 2 more days of this happening, we decided to turn on the microphone and see if we could record someone tampering with it. That would have been very difficult to do as it is on the roof. The next day the microphone recorded squawking and the camera being jolted ---- it appears a bird or several birds did not like where it was located and pulled on the wire going into the camera, unplugging the solar panel again. My husband went back up on the ladder and taped the whole thing together. It has worked ever since then and the birds must be getting used to it as we have only had a few episodes of squawking recorded since then.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Solar Panel NOT 100% compatible with HDM3 (FREED 3 ) Camera
NOTE: There was nothing specifically wrong with Solar Charger and the one star rating is to get the attention of potential buyers as a warning. The HeimVision Website and other advertising shows the HDM3 camera plugged into a HeimVision Solar Panel. Although technically the Micro-USB charging cable will plug in, there are other issue at hand. The Bad:The solar charger has rubber peripheral cover/plug that takes the place of the plug on the camera (the charging wire is imbedded in the rubber plug) This plug protects the SD card and Charging port from the weather when installed in the outdoors. The trouble is the HDM2 camera and HDM3 (FREED 3) camera have different style plugs.I limited saying 'plug' to only seven times in this review. That's a new low record for me.

PERFECT
I don't want to run wires through the house, OR take cameras down to periodically recharge batteries, so this is really a perfect solution. I mounted this to the upper corner of our front porch and the angle is so wide that I can see the entire porch, the sidewalk in front, the street, and the sidewalk across the street. It's fairly inconspicuous. I was able to run the cable for the solar panel one floor up and mount it on the second floor porch. I've had it in for a week so far. No problem with optics in any condition so far and it doesn't seem that it will run out of battery any time soon. You can see it from the sidewalk in front so it should be somewhat intimidating if a porch package thief were to sneak up.I have a CCTV system I could set up... but I'm really tempted to just buy 2-3 more of these and put away the CCTV stuff. The one thing I don't like about this camera is no continuous recording. You can record for 10, 20, 30, or 60 seconds on a motion detection event, but that's often not enough. You can manually hit RECORD also, but that stops as soon as you exit the app. This is the one thing that could be improved and limits this device from being considered in business applications. Five stars for home use though!

In between two buildings with no direct sunlight
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Still going strong a month later. I was a little concerned because there was no good spot for it and I didn’t want to put this on the roof and risk puncturing a hole that may cause a leak. Didn’t want wires at all and this was the perfect solution. It still catches enough solar energy to power my HeimLife camera 24/7. This saved me so much money and aesthetics because now I do not have to deal with rewiring anything.

Great price and product!!
Wow I was a little skeptical on buying this item due to reading some of the reviews. Let me just say I was tired or climbing my ladder to retrieve my cameras to bring them in the house to power them back to full strength. I did this once a month which wasn't too much of a hassle but when you have other things on the list this task was something I was getting tired of doing. So I brought 2 of these solar panels since I have 2 cameras and they work. Better than I had imagined. My cameras have been at 100 percent since buying these. I did an experiment charging one in the wall and just using the solar panel to bring one back to life. Both cameras as I stated before are at 100 percent and continue to remain as such. Great product and price.

Works great!
I live on the coast and foggy days are plenty. I am pleasantly surprised at how this little panel keeps the security camera charged all day and through the night! Even when we had the 3 days of heavy smoke and cloud cover- I couldn't see the sun but there was enough to charge and keep the camera working. I'll be buying another one to put in the front yard. Oh and the cord is really long too so it reaches where I need it to!

A decent size to catch a lot of sun rays. Reliability.
This item is a great add on to the HeimLife cameras. Since I’ve had it my camera hasn’t needed a charge at all. I have it next to the camera and there’s a decent amount of sunlight. I put it with the backyard camera because in the front someone could notice it which defeats some of the purpose trying to conceal that a camera’s actually there.Highly recommended so you don’t have to charge the batteries.
