A lot of fire for the money
I had recently spent a fair amount of money having a real log burner installed in my Living Room with extensive chimney repairs carried out at the same time. The fireplace in my Dining Room was little more than an untidy hole in the wall from when I had had a back boiler and gas fire removed a few years ago so I was looking for nice looking, inexpensive suite that was quick and easy to install to look good as much as anything - The heat output would be a bonus.I chose the Cambridge because it just looked so good, complimented my new log burner in the Living Room and was very, very affordable at only £199.99.Delivery was as advised and by two amicable chaps who carried the very large (and heavy) boxthrough into my Dining Room. The surround came fully assembled and the stove unit was independently wrapped with PEL foam mouldings to locate it.Other reviewers have commented on the quality of the packing and it was "awesome". The surround was protected by large polystyrene mouldings on all corners with additional plastic corner protectors and the box that it was delivered in was a very heavy duty corrugated cardboard - 11 out of 10 for packaging and it would not be easy to damage this product in transit. The "cast iron" effect stove is quite light and appears to be made largely from pressed steel coated with a very effective cast iron finish. Curiously, the legs of the stove seem to be plastic which initially caused me concerns but having run the fire on a high setting for some time, I can report that the legs never even got warm as the heat is fan blown between the legs and it does not look like this is a cause for concern. The "Oak surround" is as I expected for this price, a laminated (presumably) MDF board. It is however very well made and the grain effect of the laminate is superb. In the attached picture, the fire suite comprises of everything from (and including) the black hearth upwards. Everything below the black hearth I supplied and fitted. To sum up, for £200, I have a very nice looking fire suite that has given me a stylish focal point to an otherwise drab fireplace which is exactly what I set out to achieve.Although the suite is made with cost effectiveness in mind using laminated MDF and pressed steel to keep the price low, the build quality is very high and the quality of workmanship in the fire surround is plainly apparent.Very happy with my purchase indeed. It is a lovely looking fire and as a bonus, although I didn't buy it for the heat output - That is great also.Mike

Warm, ready for winter
I've just bought a new home and needed a fire!I have a limited budget for my home and I needed to do and buy everything!!I queried a media wall, log burner and open fire but all out of my price range for the moment. Scrolling through Amazon I found this little beauty and a great price!I had a wall to fill and this fit with my decor. While it's not a proper fire and more of a fan heater, it's works, looks nice and is warm. No complaints

Well made..Best buy
Love it..Although I read the reviews and looked at the videos etc...when it was delivered, realised it was much bigger than I thought. However it is well made, and strong..The actual fire is separate, not built in as I first thought.. however this is good, it means if the fire breaks down, it can be replaced..The heating is good..the actual fire is not heavy, but does not look cheap. This item was a bargain.. my old fire broke down and needed replacement..I paid double for the old one, so I am pleased with this..it was cheaper, but qood quality for the price... and it looks good.

Great deal
Good for the price I bought it. Try to only buy on special deals or on offer as I can tell based on some of the other reviews that it has deals quite often, which is when I got mine. Even without the deal it’s a quality product that heats up fast. I’ve only had mine for a little while so can’t speak on longevity yet. It does make a bit of noise but it doesn’t bother me since it’s not annoying. Kinda sounds like a regular space heater.

Warmlite Cambridge Fireplace - far better than I expected
Delivered next day, this was packed so well it took an age to unpack. Certainly, it would be easier if you have two people to lift the unit out of its huge box but since there was only me I very carefully sliced through the edges of the front and lowered that to the floor so that I could "shuffle" the fireplace out of the box and away from the polystyrene. This fireplace comes complete, there is no assembly required - given the asking price that is amazing because so much these days arrives flat-packed. If I am honest, the fact this was fully assembled was a major feature in my choice. Care does need to be taken removing the plastic coverings around the fireplace and the stove inside - and watch you don't throw out the "chimney" section, it is inside one of the protective boxes at the side.I do think the length of the cable given is far too small, something others have mentioned. It is barely 1m long and I doubt if many people will have a convenient wall outlet in the middle of the living room wall - mains outlets in rooms tend to be closer to corners. I was very lucky, I had just enough room to reach a socket and plug it in, although I would have preferred another 1/2m at least for safety. But at least I don't have to use an extension cable. The fireplace cabinet itself is hugely heavy but was very easy to push across my floor. The stove section is quite light and so could be placed neatly, first pushing the plug through hole in the back panel of the fireplace. Add the chimney piece on top (there is no fixing, it just sits in place), push against the wall, job done. The instructions are easy to follow and all controls are inside the door of the stove section. This is held by a magnet so don't try turning the handle - and keep one hand on the stove as you pull because that magnet is very strong to keep the door in place. A thermostat (that works but experiment to where you want it to click on/off), a switch for the "flame" effect, a switch for the low heat setting, a switch for the high heat setting. And that's it, all so very simple. The flame effect is extremely attractive. The "fire" has a warm glow to it and the flames dance around the back. All very comforting and homely. The heat output is particularly strong and when testing it first I only had it on for a few minutes and my living room became extremely warm! In fact, the heat output and the way it heated the room was far, far quicker than turning on the gas central heating and waiting for radiators to heat up and heat the room. Given energy costs now, I would think a short burst of electric heating will prove, for me, more beneficial than using the gas.All in all, I am delighted with the purchase. It is a lovely piece of furniture. It became an immediate feature against the wall, although not real wood the effect it gives is particularly attractive, plus a mantlepiece and sides of the hearth begging to hold some ornaments.I have given this 4 stars. I do believe it is worth 5 stars but my fireplace came with a small mark on the top of the black hearth in the centre. This couldn't have been done in transit, it was too well-packed, and it couldn't have been done during unpacking because that section was nowhere near any scissors or knives or the plug. Therefore, it is a flaw that arrived during the manufacture and should have been picked up by quality control. At the moment, no one else has noticed it but I know it is there, if that makes sense to you. Hence, a 5 star product that I heartily recommend to anyone looking for a budget electric fireplace is 4 stars because of that flaw.As you see, only one complaint and that is a quality control error. In spite of that, I will recommend this product, it is gorgeous to look at and works like a dream (so far).
