Would this mouthpiece be considered a 7C?

Hi, I just checked Yamaha's catalog and they use to make a 11C40-7C but they no longer make them according to the catalog. The close comparable are The Yamaha 13C4, Schilke would be an 11, Denis Wick is a 2. Current pricing on the 3 mouthpieces range between $50 and $80 on amazon. Date 02/06/2023 Hope this helps. Would I be able to use this in Concert band?

Yes. It is a standard trumpet mouthpiece to be used for any kind of play, including concerts.

is it better than the bobby shew lead?

yea in some ways and other no but remember everybodys different From my experience bobby shew jazz MP has a very bright tone and increases range all around the Lead MP intends it upward but has its limit if you try to hit high notes with to much pressure and air it would shut off on you so all around I recommend the jazz MP but like I said everyones different you got to try it for your self

Will this product help to improve my range?

Perhaps, it depends on what you are playing now. I used the Shew for about a year and loved it. But then switched back to an 11B4 and get higher range with it.
