Good for most kitchen straight edge knives.
I bought this because of other reviews of knife sharpeners. This is not the top of the line but it suits our needs perfectly. Once I read the instructions and practiced on one knife, I was able to sharpen half a dozen in a short period of time.PROS: easy to use, sharpens older knives with ease, the larger the blade the better, not noisy.Cons: I did not have as much success with the serrated edges as I did with the straight edge knives. Short blades do not get sharpened along their entire length.Overall, I would recommend this sharpener for most home uses (except scissors, as stated in the instructions)
