Just no
Unfortunately, I feel that Ms. Feehan is now searching for more shocking sexual desires. I like the characters and the world she has created, but the sexual kink has gotten too extreme for me. I requested a refund on my purchase on this one.

Yikes. DNF
I’ve read a few of the books in the series and I’m finding this series is not for me.I did like (most of) the first one but the ones that have followed I have not found as enjoyable. The preview to this sounded like something I might like - but the reality of it turned out to be very different.I like to read romance novels as a pleasant escape. In all of these books (So far) the reader is beaten over the head with (IMO very graphic and brutal) abuse descriptions about what these people suffered as children. And what happens with them as adults in their relationships - things just get strange. I don’t know anyone who goes on one date with someone and then gets married to that person - and have said marriage actually last. And the sex scenes in these books, this in particular, are extremely weird. The wedding night in this one is beyond strange. The whole public aspect to the sexual encounters isn’t really all that appealing either.Based on some of the characters that were described in this book, and who I assume will have their own stories, I am not sure I want think about the horrors they encountered and how they will need their partner to behave in the relationship and how those will be written. I think it’s time to stop and find a different series.

READ AT YOUR OWN RISK - TOO TOO KINKY
First let me say I gave it 1 star because otherwise you couldn't leave a comment. I don't believe this book even deserves 1 star.I love Christine Feehan's imagination and I'm not a prude but this was just too much....too kinky for me. I don't care what consenting adults do in their bedroom but reading about this particular fetish was more than I could stomach...I mean the story was great until they got to Caspar and he introduced her to his sexual preferences... because I enjoy Christine's work I pre-ordered this book - I'll never do that again.. I want the ability to get a refund because this book DESOLATION ROAD was complete CRAP... It actually made me cringe..I couldn't' read it. That has never happened...It's almost as though she's going for the shock value - she didn't shock me she turned me off... It was the same for the Leopard series (Joshua Tregere's story) - I waited so long for that book to hit the shelves and was extremely disappointed (there was no romance just sex)...now that makes 2 books of hers I hated.. Going to be very careful in the future about purchasing her books. She had so many different storylines (Games, Leopards, Carpathians, Shadows) I didn't think she'd ever run out of storyline but it seems as though she has. She still has character development - it's just the kink factor has gone far beyond what I'm willing to read.

Pushing the envelope...
Now I'm ok with sex. You can't read Christeen Feehan and not like a little titillation. However, it just gets more raunchy and hardcore with every book! I find this one slightly disgusting, and I actually dread what the next one might hold. I think sadism will be even worse, and it's already bad enough. Now I don't especially care what consenting adults do. I just don't feel the need to read endless graphic descriptions of those acts. Especially when the descriptions are endlessly repetitive. I think they lost me when the heroine is on the computer looking up kitten noises to better imitate their fetish. Really, you have to look up online how to meow? And this was supposed to be a super-intelligent woman. Yup, speed reading the rest of the book and probably not re-reading like I usually do...Not a bad book until...Hello Kitty! I'm already over the kitty...

Between 2 & 3
Very disappointed. I guess my problem with this book is that I am looking for a romance, and to me THIS is no romance. I cannot relate to sexual child abuse because I had a great childhood compared to these characters. The author seems to enjoy describing in detail what happens to these children. Some times I feel like I am reading child pornography.I read books to get away from the real world and the massive problems it has. Not to be dragged even deeper into them.As for me, the Torpedo Ink series is probably at an end. I thought this book would be okay until the "kitten" situation. The bathroom scene at the beginning was a definite eye opener. Some love he has for the woman.

Is someone else writing the Torpedo series?
Started well, ended well, but the middle left much to be desired. Scarlet's character is the only reason this review is not a 1 star. Her history and determination and character development was phenomenal at the beginning, then blink, she changes from someone who lived with an unstable assassin for a year to learn how to torture people to some wimpy girl with no skills willing to trust perfect strangers. There's no mystery or action or suspense after 1/3 way through. Loved Feehan older novels but now it's all copy paste history and insert sex scenes. At least it's better than Ice story, which was horrible. I'm beginning to wonder if someone else is writing her books because the last Leopard book was phenomenal, excellent writing, but then a few months later she cant get a good storyline together???

?????
I've read a few of Christine Feehan's books over the years (Drake sisters series was good) but this series in particular I find I'm uncomfortable with. We are introduced to the lead female character who we know will become the love interest of the lead male character (he's part of a biker club). Its easy to become curious to what her story is going to be, she seems to be quite a strong character and has had a difficult time with loss..... Attempted rape, Rape, suicide, Paedophilia and brutality is all part of the background stories for the members of the biker gang and to the leading lady. Nothing about any of those topics do I or could I find relaxing to read about. I just find myself hurting and sad for people who experience these atrocious acts so I found myself struggling to move on to more lighter moments in the book. I admit I scanned the pages to get past the intimate scenes as they involved the male lead needing his partner/wife to act like a pussy cat!!!! She made cat noises and paraded herself like a cat, she had a tail! I have deleted this book and won't be buying anymore in the series

First ever negative review
I have been a fan of all Christine Feehan books for so long and was looking forward to the Torpedo Ink series. I struggled through Reapers story thinking it was abit too much but I understand that with their backgrounds it could be appropriate. I hated Steels but again thought it would all get better as no way does this author disappoint. I felt a small ray of hope with Ice as there was a glimmer of humour amidst the sex but now I admit I have had enough. I cant even finish this book. This is the first ever negative review I have ever written for Amazon and it makes me so sad its for this author. There is so much darkness. The males are overly aggressive. It feels like we are ticking off a different fetish box with each book. I understand trauma leaves a huge mark but please think of the survivors of trauma who have created lives that do not need such extreme sexual practises. The world is full of angst and fear at the moment and I am afraid I am a shallow person who was hoping for light escapism. I honestly cant find a single thing in this book to recommend it which makes me so sad.

Utterly Devastated
I have two stars as cannot bring myself to give only one for an author I have loved for years. I have found this book the hardest of hers to read and don’t know if I can bring myself to order the next. Christine Feehan used to be my favourite author but now all of her books seem to focus on such dark themes that make it so uncomfortable. I think I will wait for reviews rather than preordering her books in the future as many of the low reviews for this book I completely agree with. Utterly devastated as I used to have every one of her new releases pre ordered and looked forward to them. Sorry for writing such a poor review but the book seems to be all about sex and fetishes. This is great for those that enjoy it but for those who don’t they won’t really enjoy the book.So sad to see an author take a series in a direction that I fear may lose her a lot of loyal readers.

Not to everyone’s liking. But I loved it
Absinthe has the ability to “hear and feel” lies, he can also suggest things to you, make you do things subconsciously. A human lie detector.Scarlet is a librarian, loves the job, helps the kids with their school work, and lives a quiet life. After being almost attacked by her college boyfriend and his buddies, Scarlet tries to get the law to punish them. But the boyfriends father is powerful, and Scarlet’s world is torn apart. And now she’s in hiding. But she’s not some shrinking violet, oh no, she’s out for revenge. And one by one, all those who failed both Scarlet and her family will pay.Absinthe is fascinated with the library, well he loves to learn, but he’s more fascinated with the librarian. For six weeks he’s been coming to this library, reading and watching her. His body reacts without directions (not a normal thing for this biker) he’s almost certain she’s meant to be his. But he knows she’s hiding something or from someone, he just has to figure it out.Scarlet is well aware of the hunk sitting in the library, reading and watching her, she watches him constantly. She’s drawn to him, but knows she can’t approach him, he’s dangerous but she’s not sure why. This one had me both chuckling and wringing my hands. We get more background on Absinthe and a few members of Torpedo Ink. As you maybe new to this series (I would urge you to read from the start of the series) Torpedo Ink MC (motorcycle club) is a biker club with a difference. All the members are from a school for assassins. But not everyone made it out alive! And it wasn’t voluntary, and it certainly wasn’t meant for children!Taken from his home as a small child, Aleksei and his brother were beaten, tortured and abused on a daily basis. Along with hundreds of other children. Forming a group/pack their leader Viktor “Czar” honed each child into a killer (he couldn’t shield them, so he had to help them somehow) and now eighteen survivors ride and survive together. There is a spark almost instantaneously. But both are wary, both are hiding things. Both have a dark past. Now each torpedo ink member has a kink! Someone that is unique to them, and I can’t give away Absinthe’s (you’ll have to read it to find out) but it has me spitting my coffee out, and almost choking!!Sex scenes are plentiful and inventive, but so is the action.Torpedo Ink are hunters, they go after sex traffickers, pedophile rings and anyone who thinks themselves outside the law. We get to watch as they plan their attacks, and have a ringside seat as the action unfolds. There is also a new character added to the gang of bikers. Can he be trusted? It’s not everyone’s cup of tea. It does state there could be triggers for people who’ve suffered or could suffer after reading. But the subject is treated with respect.I love this series and the author. The pages come alive with the descriptions. All the characters are well known, and any titbit is welcome.Looking forward to the next book.🦋

Dark Paranormal MC Romance
I’d probably give this book 4.5 ⭐️ if I could.I’ve been reading Christine Feehan books for years, starting out in my library days. Some of the series are better than other and I think this one is one of my favourites. The books are kind of standalone, but you will be confused at times if you haven’t read the other books in the series.Absinthe is a member of Torpedo Ink, an MC that started with a core of 18 members. Those members escaped from Russia where they had been tortured and trained as children to be assassins. In order to survive they developed their physical, mental and psychic skills, working together to gain their freedom.Absinthe’s skills often leave him overwhelmed by images of not only his past but the horrors of his brothers’ past too. In order to get away and find peace he finds libraries and one day he walked into one where Scarlet, the librarian, works. Immediately drawn to one another, Absinthe takes his time to make his first approach, never dreaming that her need for him is as great as his for her.One of the things about these books is that they good long books. They don’t try and cram everything in at under 250 pages. You get slow build up of tension and the characters are given time to breathe. The characters within Torpedo Ink are all incredibly close to each other because of what they have endured, and the way they relate to each other is fascinating. Their interactions form the backbone of the series and time is spent on their relationships with each other, as well as focusing on the romance. As I said in the header, this is a dark book. There are explicit depictions of torture, rape, murder and child abuse. If these subjects make make you uncomfortable you have been warned. However, the author does not revel in the darkness, in fact these images and facts are used to show how far the characters have come. Nonetheless I feel it necessary to make a point of warning people about those images.I really enjoyed this book and was drawn into the story very quickly, as the plot was interesting. There are lots of hot scenes, including bdsm, which were fun to read. I have pre-ordered the next book because I don’t want to miss what happens next with this unusual MC.
