This stuff is AMAZING.
I get eye injections every few months for an eye condition. The doctor injects about 12 places around each eye and sometimes in my eyelid. Needless to say, it's not a pleasant experience. In the past the nurse would put some numbing cream and give me an ice-pack before the procedure, but then they just stopped doing it -- maybe budget cuts or whatever. So, after that, for the past 5 years I've used one of the Lidocaine 4% lotions that are sold here along with a gel-filled eye-mask that you put in the freezer to help along.I saw this while I was shopping and noticed that it's now legal to get 5% lidocaine, which I didn't figure it would be that much better for an extra 1%, but I thought I'd give it a try and I got the tube a few days before my last appointment.I used a small amount around my eyes and massaged it in about 15-20 minutes before my appointment. It is noticeably better in application because it isn't greasy like the lotion-based one. It doesn't feel greasy or leave any residue (the 4% lotion I was using left a flaky residue). The cool thing was that after about 5 minutes, I could already *feel* it working -- something that never happened before with the other 4% lotion. The areas around my eyes were already starting to feel numb. I applied more to the locations where the pain is usually a lot more intense -- namely the area along my brow-line including in my eyebrows and in between them. For my eyebrows, it's usually tougher to get the lotion to the actual skin because my eyebrows are thick. I used a stiff brush somewhere in between a toothbrush and a paint-brush so that I could work it down to the skin under my bushy eyebrows.Once I got in the doctor's office, I put on the ice mask and I could barely feel the cold of the mask. That was a good sign that the numbing cream was already working. I told the doctor I was trying a different kind of cream and showed him the package -- he hadn't heard of it before. Then we began. As he does the injections, he will touch where the injection is going to be before giving it. For the first few, I had to ask him if he had even given me an injection. As we continued, there was maybe one place where I felt a tiny sensation, but nothing close to the pain from the previous times. Even better than the stuff that the nurse used before they stopped doing that. So, I told the doctor I could be the spokesperson for this stuff. It really is that good.I'm glad I used a little common sense when I was reading the negative rated reviews for this product. Since everyone is different, I figure it just might not work for some people. Some people may have built up a tolerance or just have a different physiological response to lidocaine. I'm a ginger, and apparently we have a very high sensitivity to pain (and perhaps ironically a higher ability to tolerate pain than non-gingers). I guess that's sort of true. I might be able to tolerate it, but it still hurts like crazy. At first, I thought the price was a little steep for the small tube, but because it out-performs the others I've tried and almost eliminates the need for an ice-pack, I'm going to be buying this stuff from now on. Even though the tube is about 1.75 ounces, there should be enough to last me for at least a year or two of visits since I only am covering a small area around my eyes each time. So, don't ignore the negative reviews, but keep in mind that it might not work for that particular person. You really never know until you try it for yourself. I'm realllly, realllly glad I tried it.Dr. Numb, you have a customer for life.Highly recommended -- more than almost any other product I've reviewed. Worth it. Worth it. Worth it.

Terrible .....doesn't work at all. Not even a little ...
I bought this to try out to see if it would work for a tattoo I want on the back bottom of my leg , it's a very sensitive spot so I figured I'd buy if I needed I would have it. I followed directions I got to my appointment washed it off and we started q5 min later I felt everything even from beginning iv used a different kind 1x for my armpit and nothing was perfect. So we took a break after 3 hrs I added more , ate some food went for walk cleaned up tried again and now I was in middle of tattoo see above pictures , it was tender it hurt still. Cream didn't work at all. The feel of cream is soft no chunks it went on skin nice BUT IS VERY THIN WATERY FEEL TOO IT NOT THICK!! So I even tried after I rubbed in I added another layer tried to have thick but nope soo I worked my best with cream. There's enough for 1 layer fully then a 2nd layer that goes about 75% of tattoo. So see pictures my tattoo starts at top of thight were my lady parts end to almost my knee about 3 inches away from knee and about 6 7 inches wide. My opinion way too much money for a TINY AMOUNT OF CREAM. . I will not buy ever or recommend.. I TRIED TO RETURN BEFORE I EVEN GOT IT BECAUSE THEY PUSHED SHIPPING DATE OUT 2X. AND EVEN THEN THEY REFUSED TO RETURN IT. BAD BUSINESS ....DONT TReAT PAYING CUSTOMER S BAD. TATTOO TIME 8 HRS PAIN 4/10 AND NOT DUE TO CREAM I HAVE ANOTHER THIGH TATTOO SEE PICTURES, THAT WAS A 5/10 , 6/10 CHANGES IN Spots..

Works Good
Ok so yes the tube is little BUT I was able to cover my entire arm twice and still have some left!! I little goes a long way! And idk why some people have had issues with getting numb, I think it might be a case of chemistry. The whole "everyone's body is different" or maybe they got a dud. Who knows. But this is the third one I've tried for tattoos and it's hands down the best one!!! One of them didn't work for me at all. The other (hush) was great! It def worked buuuut for exactly an hour. And I mean exactly! Right at the one hour mark BOOM it was up. ALSO more importantly, it was VERY sticky and was causing the ink to be rejected in some spots which I have never had an issue with before. The artist wasn't too pleased nor was I. Anyway, one of the guys in the shop said to get dr numb so I did and I am SO GLAD I DID!!!! It lasted for a full 3 hours which was amazing and even during my 4th hour it was still at least a little numb and some spots still seem to be completely numb It just started to wear off in some areas. But for those 3 hours I didn't feel ANYTHING!!! Heck in some spots it felt like he was tickling me lol. AND it wasn't sticky so that made both of us happy and my skin took the ink well! So anyway long ramble later my point is 1000/10 recommend.

Buy for tattoos
This is a must buy for any long hour tattoo sessions! I have a full leg sleeve and couldn’t have gotten through it without this! Definitely recommend.

Numb for a few hours guaranteed
Works exactly as intended. It lasts maybe two hours, so won’t get you through a bigger piece, but definitely helps you start one.

Works great for tattoos!
Used this on a thigh touch up tattoo and above elbow dragonfly. Works great! My thigh tattoo originally hurt more than I thought it would but with this I didn’t feel a thing other than in the spot I knew I didn’t slather well enough. The arm one I didn’t feel a single thing. That was about 1.5 hours after applying the cream.I put it on about an hour b4 the session for the thigh, slathered a good amount on, and covered it w Saran Wrap. The Saran Wrap didn’t work the best but it got me from point A to point B
