I’ve only had for a few hours, so cannot comment on long term use and durability. So far though I am extremely happy with is item. I had bought a comparable item that was about $40 less, due to instant troubles I ended up returning. This Kwikset one is definitely worth the extra amount. BLUF and most importantly it just works, no frustrations or unexpected annoyances. This was super easy to install and didn’t have to drill mounting holes (like the one I returned). It was easy to program, I appreciate the button near the battery that can be used for this (no need to also keep track of a master code, although that option is there to set up for those who need it, like landlords). I like the pass through function. Basically this feature makes the unit either default to be locked with someone needing to explicitly unlock or alternatively default to be unlocked with someone needing to explicitly lock. If that sounded confusing in other words it’s so when the door is open do you want it to auto lock when shut again, or would you rather it stay unlocked until you manually lock it. It’s easy to toggle these two modes. I like having this option. The lock that I returned was set to auto lock only. Since I have this lock on the door to my car port storage which stores all my yard equipment, i like the setting of keep unlock as I go back and forth into this storage unit as I do yard work. I like too that this item uses a physical key in case the battery dies. Also, a bonus, I was able to set the lock to my already existing house key. No need for a locksmith or to keep track of an additional key. I like that is unit too is a simple electronic key pad. No extra smart features or wifi or bluetooth connectivity. Not saying smart isn’t neat or useful in some cases. It’s just overkill for my use case and a drain on the battery. I have a battery powered Ring door bell that needs constant charging, didn’t want to go through that for my lawn equipment storage door lock. Plus smart locks are more money then I would have wanted to spend on for my use case. I like the KISS acronym and this lock and handle unit meets this for me. If I had to give a negative critique it would be that it uses a 9-volt battery and I would have preferred either AA or AAA since I tend to always have those around the house whenever I do need to replace batteries in something.

We installed this today to replace our old Kwik-Set 911 keypad that gave us 10 full years of trouble-free service (before it died). Per Kwik-Set, this new 917 model is the replacement for the 911, which is by now of course discontinued.This new one is GREAT! We love it. We were able to get the same color, so it matches our (old) deadbolt exactly, and it fits perfectly (inside and outside) where the 911 had been.It is lovely, and has a few new features which are definite improvements. The battery pack used to be quite cumbersome to get to - but no more. They have revamped that part, plus it uses one 9V instead of 4 AAs.The handle inside doesn't have a "lock" and some reviewers mentioned that. It's a non issue, IMO. There is a small lever above the handle and when it's horizontal, the door is unlocked. When it's vertical, the door is locked. Same idea as the old 911 model, only there it was a button on the handle.The unit appears to be very well made and was easy to install. We are very happy with it. Thank you, Kwik-Set and Amazon.

Very easy to install. Skip the security screw it makes it hard to put on and program. Other than that easy to program, durable and works well

Was simple to install and set up. Does exactly what I wanted it to do.My only gripe is that the handle is rattly. I bought this to replace my old standard Kwikset because the handles had so much play in them and it was annoying me that no matter what I did to alleviate the issue they still had a lot of slop. This brand new out of the box does the exact same thing. Maybe I should've spent more money on a higher end model, or something with my door is weird.

I’m a fan. All my locks are Kwikset. This one unlocks and locks super fast too. Installation was a breeze, along with the programming of codes. I love that it automatically locks when the lever is in the up position. Felt like I was the only one in the house who ever remembered to lock the last one!

I could not tell if this was comparable with a drive in latch style door when I ordered it. Turns out it comes with a converter drive in latch attachment thing to replace the screw in latch plate. Figured I would post this to make that clear to others. The knob instructions were also clear and easy to follow, it feels very solid and good 👍, works perfectly.

We got locked out of our house when a lightning strike tripped some breakers and our garage door wouldn’t open. We didn’t have a key with us so we had to call a locksmith. Not anymore. This installed quickly. The video was great. Since our home used Kwikset, being able to rekey to match the rest of the house was a great feature. Battery life is good. Went with less tech (no WiFi, Bluetooth, or fingerprint) just push the buttons. Like the one time use feature as well.

I went thru 3 brand new versions from the competition (that starts with an "S") and seriously ALL 3 failed to work when temps got below 15 degF. They would work fine otherwise, but not work in cold temps - AND with brand new lithium-ion batteries. So obviously this is a huge design flaw. The location is NW facing & exposed to the wind & weather. My other 3 are on other facing sides and no issues. My friends even have the same competition version facing NW and theirs all work fine. But mine wouldn't. This was also for a rental, so it needed to be reliable. I would have to go over with a hair dryer & extension cord, warm it up for it to work. I tried everything, from lubing up the insides, new batteries all the time, nope.THEN I TRIED THIS!!!!! AND IT WORKS!!!! So far it has performed in -10degF (+ additional windchill). It's already out-performing the other "S" brand competition. I'll update again if it performs otherwise. But so far so good in cold temperatures!!!

Instalamos varias de estas cerraduras en casa, y en nuestras viejas cerraduras, cada vez que queríamos abrir la puerta de la oficina o de la cava de vinos, teníamos que perder muy valioso tiempo en ir a buscar la llave a donde la escondíamos. Ahora, después de una muy fácil instalación, sólo hay que teclear un número y listo!😃 ya no hay que perder más tiempo buscando las llaves.

Quick and easy to install. I searched all over for a lock that would fit in my small space to fit on the door. This is the most compact in length and works very well. Comes with a key but never have to remember keys at the door again with the codes.

Definitely a high quality item as it withstands all weather, hot, cold, and rainy. I was even able to use it with ice on the buttons. I’ve had it for a year and it seems like it will last for years to come.

I bought this lock to replace another one that stopped working within a week. I installed it on our garage door. The installation was easy. The lock is sturdy and looks good. I am happy with it now. I will revisit this review if it causes problems.
