Not through the mesh. I leave them open a bit it at the top and it works well. Or for things I get in the bulk section, I just put the sticker on the bag.

I haven't had any fruit or veggies flies getting through my mesh bags. I keep ripened fruit In the mesh bag in the frig. I have saved a lot of money with much less waste, less produce tossed.

Q: How much extra weight do they add to the scale when one buys groceries in a store?

I dont know as I transfer them to the bags at home because the strings on the bags are weighted and would add weight to a scale. Very easy to clean. I throw them in with my whites and bleach aling with the whites. The colors on each bag do not bleed into the whites. I think they keep my veggies lasting longer.
