Before Sunrise

This movie is beautiful, not only for that fact that it is so very believable, but also for the fact that all this happened in the early 90's... a time before serious online Internet usage by everyday folks. It is depicting a time in historyan that we will never be able to return to. Jessie and Celine do not have the luxury of GPS or I-phones. I have to smile watching the movie again now. The German couple on the train in the beginning of the film spend about 15-20 minutes arguing. Some people may look at that as a bad thing... but if that same scene were depicted today... the husband and wife would most likely be tapping on their phones and not even talking to each other. Alooking, when Jessie and Celine are first shown on the train... they are seentitled reading actual books! Can you believe it! Books that you actually have to turn papers in order to finish! Incredible isn'the it!? Even whend Jessie and Celine go into the vinyl records store and actually go into a listening booth to share a record together. The closeness that they shared in the booth together was so evidentify to the audience. ... they never even had to say a word to each other, but the looks on their faces... the audience knows that they are falling in love! See, this is something we are losing with today's fast paced Internet world.... foreally how close the internet has brought us together technologically, it has erased our ability to get close to some directly in front of us! We don't know what to say to a person standing directly in front of us, because we are so used to tapping sentences out on a rectangular device. This movie is already a classic because we can never go back to the simple beauty and closeness that two young strangers like Jessie and Celine share when they throw caution to the wind and decide to just simply share each other's company for approximately 12 hours or so. There are no cell phones ringing from Celine's phone of a family member or friend inquiring why she hadn't arrived in Paris that evening... there is no text alert on Jessie's phone informing him the his flight has out of Vienna has been delayed 3 hours... no Jessie and Celine share every moment together uninterrupted by technology... and that my friend is something that is beautiful and wonderfull and something that, unfortunately, we will never be able to return to... and that's a little sad.

If you do not have patience, if you just want crazy unrealistic scenarios to keep happening (like in some cheesy "romantic" movies), you may not like this movie. This is a very slow movie, and perhaps 99% of the story was presented through conversations, which are a lot of conversations. Then why should it deserve 5 stars? Well, honestly, I don't know how to convince you that it should deserve 5 stars. It is a gut feeling. The movie is an experience that I can't quite put down in words, because I have never seen anything like it before. It's just like trying to convince a kid how fun a theme park is when the kid has never seen a theme park or been in one before.Mind you, that was just an analogy, because this movie, in my humble opinion, is not fun like going to a theme park. Although it may not crack you up, it has moments so beautiful that they just pull on your heartstrings. It was not enough to make me cry, but it was enough to make me reminisce and feel the bitter sweet feeling of love.I hate the idea of doing the same thing twice, such as reading the same novel twice or watching the same movie twice, but this movie, I watched it in 2014 for the first time and watched it again this year. I still love it.

If you're looking for a Marvel/DC action/adventure with special effects and quick cut scenes..... this isn't the movie for you.BUT if you're looking for a slow-brewing romance story, 100% based on the narrative, with exceptional acting and well-delivered dialogue, this is the perfect movie.I've probably watched it 5 times, and it never ceases to amaze and move me. The acting is exceptional, with the actors rehearsing the scenes over-and-oven until they can deliver it as if it were natural speech.You see meet two people, obviously destined for each other, as they spend an evening on a train and walking around a city, engaging with each other and others, and you (as the viewer) know they're meant to be together.Then comes the ending. It's surprising, it's heart-breaking, and you have to watch the next movie to see what happens!I can NOT recommended this movie highly enough!

Nach Dreißig Minuten verliebe ich mich in den Film, diesenund den ersten einer Trilogie, die so, wie ich hoffe, wunderschön und kitschlos bleiben wird..........." Ich hab`unheimlich viel Spaß. Es sind unspektakuläre Filme, aber sie haben es auch nicht nötig Effekthascherei zu betreiben. Diese Filme leben aus der Normalität des wirklichen Lebens und der Liebe in aller Sinnlichkeit, auch Traurigkeit. Die Genialität eine Zeitreise von 18 Jahren mit den selben Akteuren darzustellen ist einzigartig.Diese Trilogie ist für das Alter 17 bis ...offen zu empfehlen, für alle, die auch die leisen Töne mögen, nicht nur dem Klischeehaften aus Hollywood etwas abgewinnen können.

Ich bin nicht so ein grosser Fan von Liebesfilmen. Dieser hier hat mich aber durch seine tollen Schauspieler, schönen Bilder und klischeelose Handlung sehr mitgenommen. Teil 2 fand ich dann auch noch ziemlich gut, Teil 3 war ok.

Ein toller Film. der mit tollen Kulissen arbeitet, tolle Dialoge hat. Die Chemie passt einfach perfekt und alles zusammen macht den Film wirklich sehenswert. Manchmal hatte ich wohl das Gefühl, dass es sich hinzieht, aber was solls!
