A good housekeeping basics book.
I was never taught homemaking skills growing up & have been lost trying to navigate keeping house. My goal for the new year is to tighten up my domestic skills. I bought this primarily because the "Master Schedule" portion of a book which I plan to implement immediately to keep me on task.I enjoyed reading over the book in full. I was attracted to its simplicity in dealing with the subject matter over some of the other books. It teaches the basics, so once I have those mastered I plan to read up on more source materials. It does have a religious leaning, but I didn't find it too overpowering that it effected the content of the book. I will be using the book as a teaching resource for my own children.

I Love This Book
I am loving this book so much. At 35 years old, I still need guidance for how often to clean my home. I love how this book outlines each room with what needs to be cleaned daily, weekly, monthly, and even seasonally.

Nice
This is really well put together! I got it for myself as a newly married wife who hasn't got much sense when it comes to home skills! I like how user friendly and organized this guide is.

unnecessary houshold works for little girls
Had a religious tone. Also, unnecessary houshold works for little girls, including how toilet flush works and fixing a broken toilet. Why would you make your little girl do that? It definitely not has a kid friendly tone. It's probably appropriate for fresh college graduate living on her own for the first time in her new apartment.

So happy it's in paperback format!
We owned this guide as a printed PDF and I had put it into a binder for my oldest daughter (who is 9). Having it in book form is so much easier, as this is an oft-used resource and our flimsy printed pages were showing signs of overuse. :-)This has been so useful for both of us. I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling mother of three and, coming from a generation of Latch-Key kids, I went out into the world not really knowing all that much about cooking, cleaning or other home arts. Now, before anyone things I'm bashing working mothers, let me reassure you that I am just a mom who enjoys being at home and I really wish I'd had these skills entering adulthood, even during my years as a single career woman. I'm happy to learn and pass these things on to my daughters so that they won't have to flounder around when they're older - no matter WHAT they decide to do with their lives. :-)The format is easy to read and each chapter goes in order of degree of difficulty. I find that there are some things we skip and come back to later and some chapters we delve into and devour whole. I also like the old-fashioned references and graphics. This gives straightforward tips on how to stock a pantry, plan a menu, sew a curtain, clean a bathroom (and a kitchen) and much more. Again, I'm not advocating that women ought only be homemakers or that a girl's only ambition should be to turn perfect hospital corners on her bed. Rather, I think it's neat to see something that's not ultra-modern or bogged down in apologies for what it is.This is a great book if you're looking for a fun and interesting way to pass along useful tips and common-sense homemaking skills to your daughter or if you're an adult who longs for the opportunity to get the same advice and training your grandmother did.
