Needed something to keep mailbox closed. These worked perfectly. Had to epoxy in place, screws will get in the way closing the box

When I put the magnet on the door it couldn’t make contact with the other half. I tried all sorts of configurations but nothing seemed to work. Couldn’t return it because time was up. Not happy.

The door of my roadside mailbox is only friction-fit with no separate latching mechanism. In a recent windstorm, the mailbox door was being blown open. Time for a closure mechanism.For various reasons, I didn't like any of the mechanical (plastic or metal) latches on Amazon. Somewhere along the line it occurred to me that a magnetic latch might work. I found one such product on Amazon, highly rated, but perhaps a bit expensive for its component pieces. I then searched for magnets with the mounting geometry like this one. I selected the smallest version so as minimize the intrusion inside the mailbox.I used 1/2-inch wide x 1/8-inch thick strip aluminum for mounting and positioning the angled magnet piece on the interior of the mailbox, positioned so that the magnet would just touch the keeper (mounted on the inside of the door itself) when the door was closed. This solution (which used just one set of the two sets as shipped) has worked effectively so far. It did take a couple hours (and a surprising variety of tools) since this was my first such fabrication and I had to measure and mark everything very carefully. (I unmounted the mailbox from its post and brought it inside to my workbench for this work.)

The garbage cabinet door drove me crazy since we moved to this house. It kept opening up without a reason. An idea came to my head toUse a magnet. And yes, this device works perfectly!!! A bit pricey for such a small thing but worth the inner peace that I have now while in the kitchen!!! It’s perfect.

is not very strong, the 10 lbs I imagine if they are together, but interior is good

I have these on most of my kitchen cabinet doors. Effective at preventing doors swinging open by themselves. Also helps keep the dog from opening the cabinet with the trash can. For a boat you probably want the stronger version, but in my house I started with 20lbs and it was too much. You do have to install them so they line up, if you can't do that they won't work as good.
