Must have when entertaining
I purchased this for my daughter’s baby shower. I made hot chocolate and it stayed hot all night long. It didn’t leak at all. Cord is short but that can be fixed with an extension cord. Good price, great product.

Makes Great Coffee
I am pretty particular about coffee. I like to gind my own beans and have never used a perc coffee pot in the past. But we were having a huge family gathering and I needed a lot of coffee.I ordered this Party Perk machine and when it came in I almost returned it because it seemed so flimsy, but I figured I'd give it a chance.I'm glad I did. All the information I read on the Internet about coffee said that perc'd coffee is not very good because the water is boiled and constantly recirculated through the grounds and this does not equate to how to achieve the best tasting coffee.Well, while this was not the BEST coffee I have ever had, the coffee was none-the-less very good. I used Berkley and Jensen ground coffee (available at BJ's Wholesale club)and I could not have been more pleased with the results from this Party Perk. I used a little more than 2-1/2 cups of ground coffee for the full 42 cups and the information I read about expecting the pot to brew the coffee at one cup per minute seemed pretty accurate. There were a lot of compliments on how good the coffee tasted. It did not taste burned, even after being kept warmed in the pot for a few hours.I cannot comment on the durability of the machine as I haven't had it that long. My parents saw this pot and remarked that they had the same one for many many years before they gave it away and never had the first bit of trouble with it.

good urn for the money
I bought this coffee maker to use for a catering event. The volume is much larger than I expected it to be. Because I needed the coffee to be hot but not burnt for a longer period of time, I chose to brew a 24 cup batch and it filled an airpot perfectly. This way I was able to have the airpot out of service and I could work on brewing another pot of coffee without waiting too long. The outside does get a little hot as it is not insulated, but it was expected. The brew parts were easy to clean, but if you are brewing multiple brews in a row be aware that there will be a good amount of steam released when you fist take the top off. I had to open the top and allow the steam to evaporate for a bit before I could handle the brew basket to empty it.We looked at a lot of coffee urns and debated which one to buy based on both good and bad reviews, and we are happy we purchased the party perk for our catering jobs this summer.

Terrible flavor imparted to the water!
I have long owned west bend urns because I want reliability and good design in our very high traffic household. I bought this as a Passover urn, to upgrade size for our bigFamily, so it gets an enormous amount of use, but only for two or three weeks each year. I’ve never heard of this problem, but this urn makes the worst tasting hot water ever — we kept trying different coffee brands and just avoiding hot drinks. Since we don’t use it all year, we didn’t really realize that the problem was the urn. This year it all clicked — that familiar gross taste. I set up the little old west end urn (also only used for Passover) and the problem was instantly solved. Im way outside any service window, so I just purchased a big Sybo the other day and now we have delicious hot water again. I cannot imagine what about a simple urn could make the water so unpalatable, but there it is. Weird problem but true.

We love our coffee maker!
We got this coffee maker to replace our thirty year old 20 cup maker. After 2 months of constant use, it's still going strong. Unlike most people, we use this as our main coffee maker. It take us about 2 days to empty it. My husband fills his thermos when going to work and I still have coffee left over for the day.The coffee maker makes a decent cup of coffee. Our only problem was we had 4 large cans of coffee in the cupboard that we could no longer use. We wound up wrapping them for Christmas presents. This coffee maker uses a courser ground coffee than the ADC makers. Luckily our grocery store has whole beans that you can grind to your specs. My husband says he only wishes that it would come with a timer. I mentioned to him that this is normally used at a social function. We solved the problem with a timer that plugs into the outlet that we plug the maker into.Eventually when this one goes out, we'll buy another one like this. The size and style fits well on our counter under the cupboard. It takes about 40-45 mins for a full pot to brew.
