Repair Kit, Gateway FPD2275W LCD Monitor, Capacitors, Not The Entire Board

Web Search + Amazon + Innovative folks like LCDalternatives = WIN! My 7 year old monitor was slow to fire up for weeks, then one day - black. I did a little searching, found that the capacitors might have overheated and bulged, opened up my monitor (really easy) and found 3 capacitors that were bulged. $250 to replace, so I hit Amazon with the same searches and LCDalternatives had a solution. I am by no means an electrician, but with a cheap solder gun and some patience, this was really easy to do. I was in and out in under an hour...and I saved $235. BAM. Their packaging was actually great - a quick ship padded envelope (Capacitors are not fragile), with some solder, cleaning stuff, instructions and a link to a video to do the work. AND - if the kit was not satisfactory they will replace it with the right one for FREE. Awesome. Time for a beer and a nice movie on my "refurb!"

My 5-year-old monitor stopped working over a period of a couple days. Dead for a just minute or two after booting up; dead for 15 or 20 minutes; then dead. I felt like I didn't have much of an alternative because I needed the computer so I upgraded the monitor. (I knew it would take me a while to repair. I've gotten slower in the 60 or so years since I picked up my first Wen soldering gun.)Then I took a chance that my monitor problem had been the power supply and bought the LCD Alternatives kit. YMMV but I did find bulging capacitors, replaced all the electrolytics, and was able to make a grandson happy with a nice "new" monitor.I'm in the Los Angeles area so except for a rare local USPS delivery problem I would have had the caps in three days (ordered late Friday, should have been here Monday noon). As soon as Scott heard about this he sent me a replacement, no questions asked. That kit arrived in <48 hours.It took me a while to figure out that on this monitor the screen frame pulls off to the front. The screen is edged with metal (hidden from view) against which you can carefully pry. After that it was all as one would expect. The kit comes with the URLs of instructive videos. It is assumed that you can handle a screwdriver. It might have been worthwhile to include a bit of desoldering braid but most of us have some around, right? :)

I thought the packaging could be better, but it contained the parts as it says. I could not get the videos to load it as the links they showed in the instructions did not exist so they may need to update the links on the instructions. This made me take it from a 5 to 4. I also take a point off for the poor packaging. I feel the different size capacitors should have been in seperate bags (labeled) then in one large back to make it easier, but I guess that just shows you how picky I am.I downloaded a video on youtube someone other than the seller made and with these parts I fixed my monitor.

This was by far the best money I've spent in a long time. The capacitors came quickly and the videos made it look simple enough. The hardest part was taking apart the monitor to get at the circuit board, but after that it was a breeze removing the old capacitors and putting in the new ones. Even for someone like me who had no prior soldering iron experience it was easy.

It was exactly as advertised and reviewed by others. Packaging appropriate and the documentation clear and very helpful. One further piece of advice is to use a digital camera during disassembly to record how the cables are routed and how they connect. The coonectors are rather easily worked out but laying the cables out for reassembly is helped by the photos.Although it was shipped by USPS first class it took almost two weeks to arrive.Overall I am very pleased.

Brought the old 22 inch gateway back to life. For the small price I paid I now have three monitors for a wonderful gaming and streaming experience. Works flawlessly now. Does as intended. Took very little time to get going if you know what you're doing. I had it in pieces before I got the package. It even came with solder. I was suprised

I purchased this product since I could not find anyone to repair my LCD. Rather than throw it away I tried my hand at repair. With the help of the company tutorials I had the unit fixed in a few minutes. Great product and these guys were a great help. I will buy from them again.

Came in time haven't had time to crack open monitor to replace anything yet but it was a good price and it came fast so even if it doesn't work I'm happy with what I've got so far
