Model OF312C - Easy to travel with. Sounds good. Check specs on Journey website before ordering.
I bought this to fly to a family reunion and it worked brilliantly.I'm afraid the listing is misleading in a several places. What the listing presents as different colors (Dark Brown, Light Yellow, etc) are models constructed from different woods, and the text of the listing doesn't accurately change depending on which model is selected. Specifically, OF312C has mahogany top, back, and sides, not Sitka (Spruce) as some parts of the listing say. I checked out the model on the Journey web site before ordering and got exactly what Journey described for this model number (and exactly what I wanted). The listing's photo for model OF312C correctly shows the mahogany top.Travelling with this guitar:* Attaching and detaching the neck are quick and pretty easy. The Journey web site has excellent instructions.* I had absolutely no difficulty travelling with this guitar in the provided backpack. It went through the TSA scanners and into the planes' overhead bins with no fuss.Tuning and Playability:* I have largish hands and the 1 3/4" nut was one thing that attracted me to Journey, as many travel-size guitars seem to have very narrow necks. The scale length is short (24.5"), with 14 frets to the body.* Like some other reviewers, I initially thought the action was a bit high, but it turns out that the guitar comes with an alternate, lower saddle in the package. Swapping saddles is easy with the neck detached and significantly lowered the action.* The tuners are quick and took me a bit to get used to - small adjustments to the knob make big changes. In general, tuning was as stable as temperature/humidity changes allowed. On one or two occasions after re-attaching the neck, it took a couple of re-tunes before things settled down and became stable.* This is quite a heavy guitar because of the machinery for detaching and attaching the neck. Not a problem for me, but be aware to expect it.Sound:* This is a small guitar (roughly 00 size), so it's quieter than a bigger guitar and shouldn't be expected to deliver booming bass. I ended up very pleased with the tone and the volume was adequate for playing in moderately-sized rooms. Sustain is quite good for a guitar in this price range and with the compromises for travel.* Tonal expectations and string choice are pretty personal. I was looking for a warm tone with a fairly even balance across the strings. I was disappointed with the coated phosphor bronze strings that came on the guitar: The bass and mid-range seemed dull while the trebles were exceedingly bright. I generally play fingerstyle; If you play aggressive flatpick you may like them better than I did. I replaced them with a set of D'Addario EJ40 and got a more pleasing balance: more bass and mid-range resonance with singing, but not overwhelming trebles. The EJ40s are very low-tension strings and I got some some fret buzz after putting them on, which I eliminated by going back to the taller saddle.

OF882C Journey Travel guitar! Well built...sounds/looks great! Travels so well on an airplane!
The media could not be loaded. This Journey guitar is a great sounding, and beautifully crafted instrument.I purchased this guitar after running out of time trying to fix an alignment problem that had developed on another travel acoustic which I had taken with on vacations over ten or twelve years. We were supposed to leave in only a few days. Not enough time to fix the problem.So...I found Journey Instruments on Amazon and was able to find a nice alternative to my other one...and I got it within two days! It is a well built instrument and once I got it tuned up I found it to be a very friendly and true sounding instrument throughout. It also fits very nicely into overhead compartments in an airplane...which was sometimes a problem with the other acoustic in small commuter flights. All in all this guitar has excellent intonation, action is very comfortable and the locking Grover tuning heads make for a really well built instrument that stays in tune and plays comfortably and accurately up and down the whole neck. The sculpted cutaway is also a really nice touch which makes playing on the high registers a breeze. The built-in piezo passive pickups are high quality too. Most of all..having this guitar along on our vacation (that my wife and I had planned for our 45th anniversary to Hawaii) last week was a nice touch and the 'Journey' was a big hit.Just mellowed out listening to some waves and playin' some tunes...that works just fine!

Truly worth the investment
At first this guitar had some terrible buzzing but once I had a Luthier look at he he fixed it with some good setup work. He was impressed with how it broke down and and packed up. But he was really impressed with the sound quality! This Koa guitar is beautiful and it sounds amazing! It has a very nice deeper tone than you'd expect, it fits very nicely in my hands and I have some pretty big hands. I am very happy with my new Journey guitar! I just came home from a 4 state 2 week trip and played this guitar daily, it sounds wonderful, packed up easily and stowed in the plane overhead without any issue. Truly something to consider if you're traveling and want to bring a guitar! That's why I bought it.. worth every penny!

Great buy!
Amazing!! It was just what I needed for a compassion trip to Kenya. It traveled well, went together and came apart beautifully, tuned quickly and was easy to play. After having previously lugged my full-sized guitar to Kenya, this was a miracle! LOVE IT!!!!
