Whynter Energy Star 30 Pint Portable Dehumidifiers, White

I purchased this item in early June and it stopped working in late July. Called the manufacturers customer service and they were very difficult to work with. Hard to reach by phone, but eventually was able to communicate with them via email. They were unable to troubleshoot the problem and required me to send the item back for repair. Since I no longer had original packaging and item was so new, asked them to send me a new item and I would return old in that packaging. They refused and told me I had to purchase packaging and call them with dimensions so they could send shipping info. They only pay shipping for 1st two months after purchase, and unfortunately I was leaving on vacation and two month deadline would expire while I was away. They gave me one day from the day I returned to have it send to them. I was unable to get that done during my 1st day back. Looks like I need to either pay more to have a new item repaired, or just junk it and start over with a different product/manufacturer. Very frustrating process.To be fair, I purchased the same item in late April for another room and it continues to work fine.

This is plenty big enough to maintain a desired dryness in our previously moist basement. We have approxit. 900 sqft. of basement that is below grade. This took excess moisture out of air and rid us of the damp smell. Worked so good I Am able to move from this location and use elsewhere. It is quiet and holds plenty in the bin to last more than one day. Will more than likely purchase another if I need one in any other part of our house on a regular basis. Plus the extended warranty for 7 bucks made this a easy purchase.I HAVE TAKEN TWO STARS FROM THIS RATING DUE TO HOW LOUD THE UNIT HAS BECOME. THE 'RATTLING' SOUND IS SO LOUD IT CAN NOT BE KEPT IN THE SAME ROOM YOU ARE SITTING IN. STILL CLEARS THE AIR GREAT BUT HAS BECOME A PERMANENT BASEMENT UNIT AND HAD TO PURCHASE A BETTER BRAND FOR OTHER ROOMS. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Bought it July 2017. Happened to notice a couple of weeks ago that it had stopped collecting any water when I felt the basement smelled a little moldy. Don't know how long it had been working just like an electric fan in my basement. Send feedback to Amazon about it. Did not hear any response at all.

Broke right after the warranty period. No reason apparent, just stopped working. Yes, I contacted the manufacturer - MULTIPLE times - and thought they'd help out because it was barely outside the already short warranty. Nope, they refused to fix it. I do not suggest buying anything from this company!

use in basement. The humidity setting is off by 15-20%. When set on 55%, the actual humidity level stay around 29%. Also, during the winter (basement temps 60-65 deg.), the front ices up,requiring use of mallet to bust ice off the front grill. I miss my old dehumidifier with no electronics.

Couldn't get my basement, 500 sf, below 45% humidity level during the first summer. I started it up this spring and only the fan is running. I contacted Whynter about returning the unit for repair/ replacement under the one year warranty. They had me do some testing of sensors first and then agreed it needed to be returned to them. They only pay return shipping if the unit fails in the first two months and since I am eleven months into this, I would have to pay the shipping. The least expensive option (UPS) wanted $60.00 to ship it from Illinois to California. I am NOT paying that. I see no reason why I should have to pay that much money for their mistake. This is going to be recycled and I will buy another from a company that takes care of their customers. Never buying another Whynter product.

Does a great job, the only drawback is it is not as quiet as I expected, and there seems to be a vibration noise that will stop if you move the unit a bit but returns shortly. The drain hose is not real long and does not fit into a standard hose, therefore you need to buy additional tubong to extend the drain. But is does a great job an removing the moisture.

This is a great little dehumidifier! It is very quiet and I love the digital display for the existing temp. and humidity. The bucket is easy to empty as it has a handle built in so you aren't trying to carry this awkwardly shaped bucket by it's sides to empty it. The only thing that I didn't like is the hose it comes with for continuous running is very short. I have a hole that has been drilled from the inside of my den (in my basement) to the outside which accommodated the hose from my previous dehumidifier. The hose this unit came with is too short to run it outside through the hole so we empty the bucket at least once a day. The hose issue is just specific to my case, so I give this product 5 stars!

Si vives en un lugar con humedad este Deshumidificador es muy bueno. La primera vez que lo use me sorprendí de toda el agua que había en el ambiente de mi habitación. Me solucionó problemas de hongos en la ropa por humedad, olor a humedad en la ropa y mi cuarto en general, disminuyó la cantidad de mosquitos.Yo vivo en un edificio muy frío, con poca luz de sol y mi departamento se encuentra en la planta baja, por lo que el problema de humedad es mayor.Especialmente en temporadas de lluvias.Tip: En caso de que laves ropa y no la puedas sacar por la lluvia basta con que pongas el deshumidificador por una noche y verás que tu ropa quedará seca al día siguiente. (El uso del aparato no es para esto, pero me ha sacado de apuros con este tema)Pros:-Humedad: Depende del grado de humedad que tengas en la habitación, pero dos noches/tardes bastarán para que el ambiente se sienta seco.-Hongos: Evita los hongos creados por la humedad-Olor: Quita el olor a humedad del ambiente y deja un aroma como de tienda departamental.-Mosquitos: Al haber menos humedad, reduce la cantidad de mosquitos.-Movilidad: Tiene ruedas, así que es fácil mover de habitación en habitación.-Tamaño: Pequeño, por lo que puedes guardar en el clóset o colocarlo en la esquina de la habitación cuando no está en uso-Uso: Lo prendes y eliges velocidad baja o alta.-Independencia: no tienes que estar preocupado por que se llene el contenedor, en automático deja de trabajar cuando éste está lleno.Contras:-Ruido: Es ligeramente ruidoso (puedes tener una conversación sin gritar) por lo que recomiendo dejar puesto el deshumidificador cuando no estés en casa o en la habitación que deseas -secar--Uso: No le entiendo mucho la cuestión de temperaturas y programación en general (Tampoco es una estación espacial, sólo me ha dado flojera leer bien el manual), pero es suficiente con prenderlo y ponerlo en velocidad baja o alta.

Bought it to replace a different brand that failed after 6 years in the dark, in the basement all alone. This one has been working very well. Quiet operation. Only have to clean the filter occasionally. Will gladly recommend this unit.

Me ayudo a eliminar la humedad de un vestidor, cuando lo instalamos al instante empezó a trabajar eliminando la humedad por completo en 1 día, y continuamente solo se prendía cuando detectaba humedad, me ayudo a cuidar la ropa y el olor penetrante que quedaba en la ropa, aparte dejar de usar las bolsas para humedad

El deshumidificador funciona perfectamente, con un nivel de ruido un poco alto, que lo hace desagradable para utilizar en la habitación por la noche, pero que no molesta en absoluto durante el día. Elimina bien el agua y al de tres o cuatro días se nota de manera clara su trabajo en la estancia, desaparece la sensación de humedad y frío.Lo malo es que las instrucciones solo vienen en inglés y resulta un poco complicado el utilizar todas sus funciones.

Tengo apenas unos meses con este equipo y solo una par de veces al principio funcionó. Lleno el contenedor y se apagó cuando lleno. Ahorita lo pongo y se apaga solo sin una gota de agua y con 90% de humedad en el cuarto.. el manual muy simple no da resolución al problema

Quita la humedad de mi vestidor perfectamente

Es el segundo des humidificador que compro y es infinitamente más silencioso que el anterior que tenía, llevo pocas semanas con el pero hasta ahora muy contento.

Tengo problemas respiratorios a raíz de la humedad. Desde que tengo funcionando el deshumidificador en mi apartamento, mis problemas han disminuído.

Mejor de lo que esperaba, vivo en zona boscosa y húmeda, donde lo ponga quita la humedad. Es un poco ruidoso pero tolerable.

Compre 2. Uno se descompuso en menos de 60 dias. Ojo, no dan servicio fuera de EU. El otro esta bien pero no recomendaria dado su servicio post-venta.
