Works well under Windows 7
I bought this in order to try and update the firmware on my Samsung 840 EVO mSATA drive. The adapter is simple, and it was easy to install the 840 in the mSATA socket and clip it down.I plugged it into the native SATA on my ASUS motherboard. The boot drive for that machine is a Samsung 840 EVO SATA. The mSATA was plugged into the same Intel disk controller as the SATA drive.Samsung Magician (latest version as of early April 2016) under Windows 7 Pro 64-bit detected the drive just fine, but claimed the firmware version was the latest. It correctly identified the firmware version, but he version on the website was newer by 2 revisions. I had used the same PC and Magician to update the firmware on the SATA drive. The firmware versions for the 840 EVO SATA and mSATA are unique - different version numbers. So I downloaded the ISO Linux-based updater, and attempted to update with it. It generated some kind of error, and exited.I contacted Samsung, described what I had done, and they blamed the Syba adapter, saying it had 'an incompatible controller'. I do not actually believe this, as there is no sign of any kind of disk controller chip (or any digital chip, for that matter) on the Syba board. It seems to be a form-factor adapter, with a couple of analog bits, and little else besides the mSATA socket. So, inconclusive. It works fine under Windows. I benchmarked it, and performance between the mSATAwith the Syba and the SATA were similar. But - Big Props to Samsung on their handling of the firmware issue. Someone answered the phone immediately (and they spoke perfect, native English), they understood all the technical information that I provided, and willingly set up an exchange. They sent me a pre-paid overnight label for UPS, and had the thing back (the original drive, actually, just updated properly) in three days. The E-Mail communication was top-notch. Samsung knocks it out of the park, warranty-wise, unlike Crucial. Crucial's tech support and warranty support is abysmal - worst I have seen in many years. I found this out due to a failure of an M4 drive that my Dad bought. Meanwhile, I have owned multiple Samsung SSDs, and zero problems. The firmware on the mSATA was an issue, but the manner in which they resolved the problem exceeded expectations.

A life saver
When my wife's Samsung 900X ultrabook suddenly stopped powering up, we needed a fast way to retrieve her data from the hard drive. This was the only adapter I was able to find online that was in stock, and Amazon was able to deliver it next-day.Pros:It totally worked. I was able to mount the hard drive from the laptop into this adapter, and then connect the adapter to my desktop computer using standard SATA cables. I was able to recover all the data very quickly.Cons:I was not able to completely secure the hard drive from the laptop with the clip on this adapter. The pins that go through the mounting holes of the hard drive have a bit of metal that extends outwards, and for the hard drive I was trying to mount, that space was occupied by the memory chip of the hard drive itself. So the hard drive was kind of secured from contact with the clip, but not in the way it was designed. I would not use this as a long-term mounting solution without modifying it first. The adapter does not come with mounting screws to mount the adapter into a standard drive bay. Again, not a big deal for a one-time use, but would have required additional effort if I planned to use it permanently in my desktop.Overall:A terrific value, perfect for a quick data recovery. May need slight modifications if you intend to use this as a permanent fixture.

It works!
I bought the cheapest one I could find, and it works! I am not able to use my mSATA in a normal HDD bay. Though I actually use it in an adapter that turns my optical bay into a HDD bay... also the cheapest one I could find.I actually rather like that it doesn't require a screw to secure the drive down (or rather two screws in most cases). Instead it has a nifty little spring clamp like apparatus that makes installation and removal a breeze. My only complaint is that it actually mounts into my HDD adapter bay (the one mentioned above) upside down. So while it would be really cool to be able to easily remove the mSATA without removing the adapter, this is not possible. This also means that I cannot easily mount the thing down either. It appears from the shape and size that this bay actually might be intended to be held within a SSD outer casing. There are cut outs in the right places to accept the screws that would hold the two clam shell halves in place. But alas, I do not have a spare case to test this out.Oh well, the thing serves its function, and seems to do it well. I would recommend this device for anyone looking for such functionality on the cheap. I think that this would be expecially suited for a dekstop machine, where it would simply sit in place and not be moved or jarred.

Perfect low-cost adaptor for ultrabook SSD drives
There were two similar adaptors on Amazon with little explanation of the difference of which this was the cheaper alternative. As it turned out, this worked perfectly with my newly-purchased Plextor mSATA SSD drive when inserted into a external USB SATA drive enclosure. Warmly recommended.

Cheap solution to put some mSATA SSD on your laptop
mSATA SSD stays properly locked. There's no case, so the SSD is exposed. There are wholes for screws but I couldn't properly hold the adapter to my laptop. It's fine for some HTPC/NUC but might not be safe for a laptop. Check your laptop to see how the HDD is held before buying this adapter.

Works well
I have had no problems with this it works as expected. The spring clips that hold the m-sata board in pace take a bit of getting used to.

Does what it says
Bought this adaptor to fit a mSATA drive I had laying around in my desktop PC.Works fine but would have benefited from a 2.5" caddy to mount it, cannot mount in old hard drive caddy as missing the side screws on the unit. All in all, does the job but not as slick as I would have hoped.
