Can I make caramel in this pot? Can I use beaters in it?

Caramel..yes, beaters..no! The surface is fairly hard but does scratch even from a spoon.

Is the construction of the pot thick or very thin?

I love this t-fal pan, it's medium thick. Thick pans are especially heavy when full and hard to use, thin pans are crap and cheap and don't last. This is neither of those. It's a nice pan by t-fal.
