Organize your kid's books in style! This handmade wooden bookshelf was designed to help your child see the covers of their favorite stories and easily put them away when it's clean-up time. The bookshelf pictured is the actual shelf in my girls' room. It has been an amazing change from the average bookshelf where the spines face out. My girls can see all their books without having to pull out every one to look at the cover in search of their favorite. Clean-up is also simple, as stacking books away in this manner is so much easier for little hands. We find that it holds over 100 average size paperback children's books. This shelf measures approximately 47 1/4" tall by 21 1/4" wide. The bookshelf is fastened with sisal rope on each corner, which is then secured over a hook on the wall (hook included). This method keeps the bookshelf from tipping forward (as this piece is heavy, usually weighing between 25 and 30 lbs). The shelf should sit at a slight lean toward the wall. We paint the shelf white and words are optional. You can choose another word or phrase, such as your child's name. This process involves the use of printed text and a gel medium, which gives it a distressed look. Please note that this will give the text an aged look, as seen in the pictures with the words, "Little Library." Enter your text preference under the "options" tab prior to check-out. GOOD TO KNOW: Reclaimed wood varies in color, density and texture. Handmade items may have slight flaws or imperfections due to the type of materials used.
