Better Than Samsung--Android the Way Google Intended
This is a great Android smartphone and Amazon (I purchased mine through the Warehouse for extra savings) has the best deal on them. The price is even better than what buying the Nexus 5X direct from Google is--unless you are buying one through Google's Project Fi, Google MVNO phone service. One of the best things about the Nexus line is that they run pure, vanilla Android. This is the Android OS devoid of the clutter of overlays, like Samsung's TouchWiz, that take up space on the device and tend to make it run slower. It's also a major reason why phones like Samsung always take longer to receive software updates and the latest operating systems. The Nexus line being not linked to a carrier (which also slows down your updates) allows you to switch between different SIMs with ease. Google provides the latest OS for two years (I just got my Android Nougat upgrade a couple weeks ago), access to beta software (if you're into that), support for three years, and zero carrier bloatware (you would not believe how much space this has freed up). This phone handles light gaming well. I am not a heavy gamer so I do not know if it would stutter for that. The camera is quite good and I have captured some very good pictures. Sound quality during calling is great on the phone using Verizon. Having a phone not from Verizon can enable you to use Verizon Prepaid which is much cheaper than Verizon's postpaid plans. You can also check out Google's Project Fi (which I can't wait to try) as the Nexus 5X is one of three Nexus phones that can run on it. My battery lasts about 2 days or so. The USB-C is much quicker charging (although take note this phone cannot wirelessly be charged) than standard micro USB. The screen is pleasant to use in a variety of lighting. Some of the downsides is that this phone does not have expandable storage. So no SD card. However, this is not a big deal for someone like me. All my photos get uploaded to Google Photos right away where I had unlimited storage for photos on Google Drive for free. I never notice that my phone only has 16GB (there's also a 32GB version). This phone does have a noticeable camera bump that prevents the phone from laying flat. However, getting a phone case (like the Candy Shell Grip like I have) solves this problem. Like most plastic backed phones, the Nexus 5X is a bit slippery, especially for people with very small hands like me, again a grippy case solved this problem. This is a smaller phone (5.2 inch screen)--which for me is a plus. If you want a larger, phablet check out the Nexus 6P.Overall, I love the Nexus 5X. The price on Amazon was pretty good. It also came with a free 3 months of Google Music which includes You Tube Red, which I really like.

Bootlooping, useless phone is a waste if money
UPDATE: Inevitably, it has bootlooped. It's really sad that these devices have such shameless programmed obsolescence. My three month old Moto X Pure was stolen, so I bought this one instead. This review will center around comparing the two, as they are in very similar price points. I prefer this phone to the Motorola, by a slight margin. The pros:- The size is smaller, which makes it easier to manipulate. It still is a big phone, bigger than a Moto G- It is much lighter. The difference is significant when in the pocket- Fingerprint scanner is very practical and useful to unlock the device. I thought it would be a gimmick, but it is not- The screen is brighter and has better color calibration- The main camera takes better pictures- The screen is high resolution enough (HD) while not waisting battery or processing power in pushing pixels I can't see (QHD)- Slightly faster, even though it has 1 GB less of RAM. I installed all updates right away, which may explain why I'm not seeing the performance bottlenecks some other reviewers are talking about.- Faster software updates- Easier to repair (not much glue to hold it together)The cons:- The selfie camera doesn't have as wideangle a lens as on the Moto X- No one I know has a USB C charger. Make sure you have enough battery when you leave your house!- The plastic construction has very slight creaking sounds when handling it sometimes, which is annoying (reminds me of Nokia dumbphones of yore, not that they were not durable). The Motorola felt like a solid brick. This is explained by the fact that the Motorola is glued together, while this one has a more traditional construction.- The Moto X has an SD card slot and Android 6.0's adoptable storage makes it seem like internal memory to the user, which is great. You're stuck with what you bought with the Nexus. The same:- Battery life is just as bad on this as it is on the Moto X (or any other 2015 phone). I miss my old Moto G's amazing battery life- Fast charging is just as fast and convenient on both- Network reception, call quality and modem speed seem on par

Great buy. if you are hesitating, dont worry. You will be happy with this phone!
Its only been about a week but.... I love this phone!Pros:* Its fast, and fluid. The software feels light even went loaded up with music and apps. very smooth transitions between apps and when scrolling or swiping.* With it having next to no bloatware at all, I get to control exactly what apps are on my phone, and not be pestered with relentless updates for apps I don't even use, that just take up space on my device.* The OS is simple, easy to use, and small (i think its 5.8gb) so even if you have the 16gb version (i got the 32gb version) you have plenty of space for your music and apps, while still allowing enough memory space for the phone not to feel bulky and slow.* The finger print scanner works very well, is lightning fast, and lets me store many different fingers so i can set my index of each hand.* The camera is well made and takes good shots, that feel a bit warmer than colors available which is nice for me.* Phone feels well made in my hand, and i can reach the whole screen with one hand.* The batter easily lasts all day with moderate usage, and the fast charging is great!Cons:* It needs all new charging devices and only comes with a power charging USB, so unless you have Bluetooth on your computer, you cannot import or export music, phones, etc without buying a separate cord for 15.99.* My computer would not recognize it at first, which turned out just to be a driver install, but my computer didn't automatically suggest the install. I had to go to google's website and download manually. only took 15 min to troubleshoot but, if you are not tech savvy, this may be 30 min or so for you.* Feel slippery in my pocket, might need a case to keep from slipping out when i sit down.
