Q: Will this router help you on online playing call of duty?

No. Buying a more expensive or more powerful router, will not help your gaming experience. If you feel that your online gaming experience is sub-par because of network related issues, then run some simple diagnostics. You could have a modem problem, damaged ethernet cable, too many people hogging your bandwidth etc. And if you're playing online competitively, you should only be using an ethernet cable. WiFi is NOT to be used if you're serious about gaming. Period.

Q: Will this wifi router be compatible and work with optical network terminals or ONT (fiber optic cable provider)?

Your ISP will need to provide you with a fiber cable modem which will have an Ethernet LAN port which will connect via an Ethernet cable to the WAN port on the X4S router.

Q: Does this come with a VPN Client. AKA DD-WRT comparable

No. You need to go to the OpenVPN site and download the OpenVPN Client. Then, unless you are a business and have static IP, you have to go pay $40 to DynDNS (or like $25 to NoIP) because the supposed free account is just limited time demo. Finally, you have to just pray that it works. In my case, even after speaking to support, I could never get it to work properly. I could connect and get an IP address, but I could never connect to anything behind the firewall. The worst part is that anyone who gets access to your public key can connect to your network. And keys and certs gets snooped and substituted with man-in-the-middle attacks. Also, the documentation is very unhelpful and outdated because the screens have changed and they don't explain anything any detail. It is just do these steps 1 2 3, but when it doesn't work, you are out of luck and the Netgear's support people will just send you back to their inadequate documentation because they have no training on how to make a VPN work.

Q: I have comcast. Looking to update router. Do i need to update wifi too? Need to improve range

I have comcast also. Paying for 50 mbps. Updated to this router from an old belkin with single band. Speed went from 20 mbps to 48.6 mbps. Unless you wanna pay for more than 100 mbps this router will do the job!
