Local tavern claimed they were counterfeit?
So I looted this pouch o' gold off a small pack of smelly goblins. It was about the only thing they had of value, other than a couple o' rusty swords that probably aren't worth the cost of the worn leather tied around the hilt. Ah well... there's still the fun to be had in vanquishin' those pesky green buggers anyway. If'n the story ended there we'd be dandy, but I rode half a day into the nearest village and wanted nothin' more than a tall glass of ale. I slapped the trail dust off o' me clothes and went into the local tavern, the smell of mutton roastin' on the fire spit about the only thing competin' with my powerful desire for ale.I bellied up to the bar, slapped a coin on the counter and ordered an ale, expectin' it to only be the first of many this fine eve. Except the barkeep took me coin, bit into it, and then nearly had me run out o' town fer tryin' to pass a gold colored piece o' metal as the real deal.So here I am, camped with me horse, not a drop o' ale, and chokin' down a tough as old leather trail critter instead of delicious mutton. Ah, the life of an adventurer... ya win some, ya lose some.Ok, ok... so a real review now. I bought these coins to use as tokens to hand out to my players for exceptional play, allowing them to spend them for advantage - similar to the "bottle cap" concept the Glass Cannon podcast uses. For a relatively inexpensive little bag of coins, these are much higher quality than I expected. The coins themselves remind me of old arcade tokens, both in size and weight. They have somewhat of a "scale" pattern on one side and an emblem of dragon on the other. I was impressed that the bag appears to be genuine leather, rather than PU leather -- not that I have anything against synthetic leather, but the real deal adds to the experience.Overall, they are perfect for adding some flavor to the game and being able to hand out a coin when players receive advantage or inspiration is much more exciting for them than simply telling them about the bonus.Just don't go trying to purchase any mugs of ale with these...

Gold Coins: More Than Just a Shiny Token, A Versatile Learning and Fun Tool
Gold coins, often seen as mere decorative items or party favors, can be so much more when used creatively. I've personally found them to be an invaluable tool in teaching my child essential life skills. By using them as rewards, my kid has learned the basics of counting money, the importance of saving, and the value of being responsible with finances. But the potential uses don't stop there. These coins are incredibly versatile. Beyond the educational aspect, they can be incorporated into various games, making playtime both fun and instructive. Whether it's a treasure hunt, board games, or role-playing activities, gold coins add an element of excitement and tangible value. Their shiny appearance and tangible feel make them appealing to both kids and adults alike. In a world where digital and cashless transactions are becoming the norm, introducing children to the concept of physical money through gold coins can be both nostalgic and educational. So, if you're looking for a multifunctional item that can be both a teaching aid and a source of entertainment, gold coins are a golden choice.

Perfect for gaming and greedy dragons!
Used these role playing coins to be the dragon hoard for Smaug the Terrible at my Lord of the Rings/ Hobbit themed wedding reception. Colorful, fun for all ages, great value for the money spent, hefty size, metal material, and functional for its intended purpose of play or decoration.

I paid $15. They're worth so much more.
These things are beautiful and I inspected each and every one. That's 150 in total that I ordered and inspected. The quality is truly top notch from the manufacturer. They're very light, lighter than I would've expected, but the finish on them is amazing. They're very yellow golden in color with great sheen, and the feel of them is so smooth and slippery. If you every wanted to toss a coin purse and watch the coins just slide out of the bag with ease, these are the coins for the job. They're about the size of a US quarter, but certainly thicker.I really hope these guys come out with some D&D style currency or other designs. I would buy and buy and buy until their vendors are incapable of delivering them material due to my high demands. These things would make great gifts, great tokens for table top games, or for kids treasure.

Not very gold
These coins are much more copper colored than they appear in the listing. In fact, if you check Byhoo's website they are listed as 'Dark Gold' and their other coins are 'Light Gold'. So perhaps check out another set if the color matters to you.Otherwise, the coins are quite nice. The design is pretty and works for any fantasy game. They feel good in the hand, are easy to stack, and make a satisfying clink. The weight is acceptable at 5.73 grams.
