Does this unit come with a heat shield in back to allow for installing unit closer to a wall?

With the stove designed as it is, you must allow a minimum 17" of clearance from the rear of the stove to the wall.

Is this eligible for federal tax credit?

Sec 25(c) biomass tax credits expired on 12/31/20. New credits are being considered under Sec 25(d). From what I've read, I think if it EPA certified, which this stove is, it will qualify for the new 25(d) tax credit.

Can i use a flue pipe damper with this stove?

The manufacturer does not recommend we use a damper with this stove. It has to do with the way air is introduced into the stove.

Will this work in a shop? 36x48

It's doing a great job in my 1400sq ft space. I'm sure your shop would be just fine. Depends on your ceiling size, insulation, etc...
