What is the replacement mantle?

The mantles are the small cloth bags made from non flammable line that catch a small amount of propane and are ignited.This is what lights up within the lantern.

What size mantles does this item require?

They are all pretty much standard. Any one should work.

Is the red igniter supposed to come off?

Probably not, my red igniter button also fell off in transit, will not stay on and falls off black igniter button. VERY ANNOYING

Does this lantern uses also 16 oz propane cylinders?

Yes this lantern use standard 16.4 oz propane bottles!
