Best of Metallica for Violin: 12 Solo Arrangements Book/Online Audio

I have been working on The Unforgiven from this book and I do like it HOWEVER there are 3 measures from the Metallica song that are missing from the beginning. BUT if you can read sheet music just a little and can play by ear just a little, you can work out any missing parts. Of course we don't want there to be any missing parts but because of the range of Metallica songs vs. the limited range of a violin, it is to be expected. Obviously there is no percussion, and the range of a bass guitar and lead guitar can never be achieved on a violin. Not even close. So if what you want to do is exactly recreate the songs as they appear on Metallica's CD, you will be disappointed. But if you want to play something that sounds nice playing along with their CD, you will be happy. This is not to say that you can't recognize the song while playing solo. You can tell what the song is and it still sounds good. Just not as "full" as a full band. I think the CD that came with this book might have been more helpful if it only included the violin parts. Or maybe one with background music and one without. Personally I like to practice without music and then when I feel I have it down enough, I play with Metallica (tee hee what girl wouldn't want to play with Kirk Hammett..I mean..Metallica) Anyway, the CD doesn't sound like a garage band. It sounds like a cover band with a digital violin laid onto it. Not terrible, but not great either. Still, I'm glad I bought it, it's fun to play.

This book and CD combo really dashed my hopes. Maybe I am just spoiled to good book/CD accompaniments like Alfreds, but this was horrid. The CD only features a play along track with no play by yourself track. The music itself on the CD sounded like a garage band. Not the Nirvana kind, the kind that hangs around and drinks and smokes too much pot until they think they have a platinum winner. The violin portion sounds like someone playing from inside a wind tunnel on an out of tune violin which is pressed directly against a microphone. Buzzing rattling nastiness is all it is. The other instruments that accompany the violin are playing to a version of the song that someone other than Metallica wrote. The notes are all off. I I have never ordered anything from this company before so I can't say much about their entire product line, but if this is an indication of their quality then they should feel bad for peddling this garbage to people. I am a huge fan of Metallica end of the violin, and I feel like they have both been violated by this....abortion.

greate music sheet with significant metallica song fragments. Loved the themes selection and clear scripting ready to play. Recomend it to make an ensamble with cello buying the same book this seller has. It would be greate if they add the solos too for next editions

My daughter is making noise with her violin but now with this, music to my ears!!! Metallic rocks, even though it comes from a violin!!!

I have just began in my violin carrier, however I could not pass it up. I am pleased to have the sheet music although I am practicing One over and over and have not quite got it yet. Probably not the book for someone playing less than six months. All in all I have it for when I am a better player.

I bought this for my husband, a huge metallica fan who's been teaching himself to play the violin. He was super excited to get it and absolutely loves it! It's very easy to read and the cd accompaniment is fantastic. i personally am not the biggest metallica fan, but hearing my husband quickly master the music and play his favs for me on his violin has changed my mind (tho I much prefer my hubby's playing over the actual band!) Great gift!

My 10 year old daughter is in beginning orchestra and she is enjoying learning the violin at school and then coming home and trying to apply it to learning Metallica's music.
