Be careful assembling
I don't usually write reviews, but this item needs some explaining. What a pain in the neck. Remember that this is a metal bird bath. The first bird bath had a piece broken completely off one end of the pedestal. My first job out of college was as an engineer in a factory casting blades and vanes for turbine jet engines. I can tell you that the cause of this defect occurred during casting, was not picked up when the piece was heat treated and obviously, there was no quality control. Even if there is no charge to return this defective items, I'm beginning to loath Amazon returns. The folks at the UPS store now know me by my first name. And, this item is heavy and awkward to carry. Well, the replacement birdbath showed up quickly and was in good shape. There's 3 pieces. The base, the pedestal and the bath. Oh, then there is the hardware. As I began assembling the bird bath (oh, by the way, there are no real instruction. Just a diagram), I thought that this would be a good 2 person job. It's heavy, so you need a man to move it around, but the hardware that is used to connect the base and the bath to the pedestal is slight and best handled by a woman. You need to screw 3 metal threaded posts into the bottom of the pedestal to attach the base. One end of each post has a slot so that the post can be tightened with a screwdriver. The slot is not deep and the post is small (10mm) so you can't use a larger screwdriver. It is easy to break off the corners of the post which then makes it hard to screw the nut on. After causing some damage to the first post, I realized that you can't, nor do you need to, use much torque. You are provided with a flat and a lock washer for each post. Don't use the flat washers provided on the bath end. They're too small and fall into the channel where the post is set. I used some larger ones. The lock washers are fine. I decided not to use much torque on my ratchet and that turned out to be the right decision. I was afraid that the posts could be easily snapped. Once you have the unit assembled, you'll realize that it is sturdy with gentle tightening. The base is a good size and provides good support. I have problems with deer as they like to drink from the bird bath (along with the birds, squirrels, turkeys, etc.) so i used utility spikes to secure to the lawn. This is not necessary if you don't have critter issues in your yard. The birdbath is handsome, but does blend into the scenery if you have lots of tree trunks. Up close, you can see the posts and the nuts on the bottom of the bath that you used to secure. From 30 feet away, they can't be seen. I hope this review helps. I've only just set this up, so a follow up review regarding the durability of the birdbath will need to follow.

Decent, odd assembly but leaks!
The bath itself is very nice, heavy enough to not be a wind issue but light enough to not break your back getting it in place. The finish is very nice and it great perfect. Assembly is a real pain though since they didn't include bolts with a lock washer but silly tension nuts that are a real pain to get in and tight. All in all I would be happy with it ... The problem is that it LEAKS! There is a small defect in the cast iron that lets all thaw water run right out the bottom.I have already submitted a return request to Amazon but this thing is hard to get together, I can't imagine trying to get it apart and back in the box...Update 5/10/16 - Received the speedy replacement today (Thank you Amazon!) and before I even put it together I took a look at it - AND IT HAS AN EVEN BIGGER HOLE! (3rd picture attached). It's so large that you can see right through it so I have no idea how this possibly made it through quality control, so there must not even be any. This was supposed to be a birthday present so I guess that's out. Back it goes. AGAIN.Is there a way to rate negative stars?

Great, solid birdbath!!
Love this birdbath! The hardware had an update and very good nuts and washers were provided so it was a quick put together! The base has solid weight to hold it steady and the coloring merges well with trees and bushes to look natural to birds. It only took two days for the birds to begin to use it. Very happy with the purchase and and price is good.

Great construction but a smidge shallow
Love the weight and stability but the bowl depth was a bit shallower than expected. This was important since I am using a solar fountain. However the birds appreciate the bath and we have noticed an uptick in bee visits too

Item does not meet specification. Bath is 28" and not 34" as described.
Apart from issue mentioned above, the bowl screw holes do not agree with the holes on the column holes. I will have to take the column to a machine shop to ream out one of the holes to make a fit. I am very dissatisfied about this bird bath. If I had not disposed of the packaging, I would promptly return this item..

very good looking and smartly designed
Actually looks better than the picture. Nice and tall with a very heavy base which makes it very stable. Had a tornado pass within a mile of the house. I lost trees and lawn furniture among other things, this bird bath was one of the few things still standing.

SOLID & BEAUTIFUL!
It's heavy - solid. i recommend putting it together where you intend to have it. Instructions were vague - but it was a few screws and washer and easy to figure out.Looks great!!! Birds are loving it!
