Great for YouTube and other recording of presentations etc.
I use OBS to create broadcasts, live and recordings, were the speaker (or me) talk about something technical. This often includes slides and demos where the presenters laptop, or a physical unit like a Raspberry Pi is used to illustrate and demonstrate the point of the talk.Without this unit, you end up using a camera to film a canvas - the result is that the audience and viewers barely can see what's happening. It's easy to get out of focus, and to get both the presenter, demo and slides into focus. With this, the presenter gets full access with NO change to the presentation format. No software needs to be installed - all you need to do is plug their HDMI out into this unit, and then plug the output into the projector, TV or whatever is used. You then plug the USB into the computer running OSB - and it shows up as a video source - clear as a day. You can capture any device that outputs HDMI this way - and if there would be anything I could complain about it's that there's only one input channel. Not a real bit problem. The only odd thing is that the status LED on this unit keeps flashing. It works fine but the moment there's a signal it starts the blinking game. Since nobody sees it, no worries - but it would have been nice to know what that blinking did, vs. a fixed/steady signal (that I never see).Big pro here is that you do not need additional power input. One less cable to drag around. And it could not be simpler to use.

Money's Worth
As a person who loves to play video games to relax and forget about reality, I decided to record my games and do a little live streaming. When I opened the box, my first impression, nice color scheme, gray with red trim. It was compact, light weight, firm and of good quality. The box had a USB cable cord and warranty card too. I searched for detailed instructions, because this is my first time, but there were none to be found. I read the warranty card and it said to watch a video for setup and if there are further questions call Amazon. The set up went fine as a first timer. The HD Video Capture works as described. The recording inside was clear and outside it picked up cars driving by. The images show good on my laptop and tv screen. Audio was good and there was minimum lag time. No frames were dropped during streaming.I was satisfied with my purchase and the performance overall was good. I will definitely get my money's worth.

video is great, audio doesn't work
Not really a bother since I'm doing commentaries, i.e. don't need game audio, but it is disappointing I cant just upload gameplays

It works until it don't. (Then it does?)
So, I've owned a few of these. They are great for what they do. Live Streaming, Game Capture, etc....One thing I found out: They will not stand up to a single power surge. Blue light won't stay on anymore even with the usb power source. I may have to turn towards an actual internal card.Update: After posting this review, all of a sudden it does work again?Maybe it's a cheaper choice but I may very well get a card just to be safe...

Great Budget Capture Card!
I bought this to stream games off of my Switch and it honestly works really well! Setup was originally a little tricky but now it works like a dream! People are honestly shocked when I tell them I stream with a $50 capture card, you really can't tell by the stream quality! It will occasionally freeze up while running OBS but I'm pretty sure it's a problem with Streamlabs more than this.

nice little capture card but....
At first I loved this (and in some ways still do). It worked well with my PS4 Mac streaming set up. The plot thickens when I purchase my PS5. While it.s branded all over the place and even in answered questions that this device will pass through 4K, it does not. I just tried connecting my PS5 through this to a 4K display, no signal. After reading some notes I should have done a little more research. I'll continue to use this for my PS4 and switch for streaming but I'm super disappointed that I have to go spend additional money to find a 4K capture card. BOOOOOO

Great! Just wish I knew just one thing.
This does exactly what it says. It takes the load off my computer to record from another one. Great picture quality in a very compact size. It fits in the palm of my hand so not a large space needed for it.The only thing I wish I knew before hand was that the pass through only works when this has power. This means that you cannot just leave it plugged into your computer with only HDMI cables. The USB has to be connected (there is no other power source) to a computer to get power. This was kind of a pain for me since I was using my laptop to record from a desktop. I was hoping to just leave the desktop connected but I had no picture on my monitor when this item did not have power. So my choices were to leave this plugged in somewhere else or just fully disconnect it after I am done recording.I would definitely buy this again even given that minor issue. Well worth the money I spent on it.

Works exactly as advertised
A small compact yet powerful design. Plug and play no drivers to install. As an added bonus it installs it's own driver for a microphone
