I love metal cubes for entertaining and for my own enjoyment. I started off with a set of four and quickly realized I needed more. These cubes are my favorite of all my sets because they don’t have their brand logo etched into the cube. It also has a more polished finish. Some other brands may have a trace amount of haze to the finish. It’s just a plain, simple and sleek cube. It’s best to just get a set of 8 cubes rather than the typical four because they are sometimes a little cheaper and you’ll find that you want more of them. They also have a nice set of rubber tipped tongs for serving and it’s also helpful so you don’t get fingerprints on the super shiny surface or get your skin frozen to the cube. Not all sets come with that. It also has a nice thick plastic storage tray with lid for freezer storage. The only thing is, the cubes came in a storage tray but it doesn’t come inside a box which makes it not quite so simple for gifting. Functionally speaking, they work well and extend the chill-life of my drinks since I’m a slow sipper. I start out with a cold glass, use a chilled drink and these frozen cubes. Right out of the shipping box, I was a happy camper. I was very happy to see that these shiny little beauties came in their own plastic container. They are nicely packaged with a heavier stock plastic storage container, not the cheap ones that break after the second time you try to open it. I also love that they come with tongs to pick the rocks up with. They have a rubber tip so its easy to pick them up with and they store right in the middle of the container for safe keeping.I washed them right up and stuck them in the freezer, couldn't wait to try them out! They cooled quickly and were ready for use. My son was having a snack with milk. Well, let me tell you, he's a slow eater and he usually doesn't like the last bit of milk because it is warm by the time he gets to it. Not anymore! I put one of these babies in his milk and it kept it cool till the last sip. He loved that he had a metal ice cube in his milk, said it looked like something Iron man would use.Hubby was excited to try them out also. He made himself a drink and put a couple of these little babies in there. He loved that they kept his drink cold but didn't dilute the flavor. I love using them in my coffee. I always have one cup at home and take one with me for work. It is always too hot to drink right away so I have to wait a bit to drink it. I have used ice cubes a few times but it waters down my coffee and it isn't strong like I prefer it. These provide the perfect solution.They wash up nicely without leaving any residue or odor from what they were used in. I don't have to worry about my son's milk tasting like alcohol or coffee. The old plastic ones used to hold a scent and I never liked them. I love these beauties and can't believe I waited so long before finally getting a reusable set of whiskey rocks. They are - first of all - very pretty. I love the square shape and the size, and the high gloss of polished stainless steel. Second - and probably more important - they get very cold, quickly. They are great for bourbon - you can fit two-three in a typical bourbon glass, so the surface area is great for exposing the drink to the cold surface of the cubes.The fact that they don't dilute the drink is great as well, of course - I've never met anyone who is a fan of watered down bourbon. These will chill a glass of room temperature white or rose, but just like ice they will lose effectiveness the warmer the liquid that you're starting with, and with larger volumes.These pretty little cubes come in a tray that fits each one in a separate compartment, plus a set of tongs. I really like the little tongs, because handling these with fingers not only leaves fingerprints, but is also a little uncomfortable since they are very cold. As a whole package, this is a good gift set for a bourbon fan.I got these at a discount to test and review.
