Great Drill
I aquired this drill to add an adtiional drill to my set for when im drilling and tapping holes. I use this drill to tap holes frequently, it works great and it allows me to tap quickly with out going to deep or braking my taps. I also love the little LED light they added to drill and drivers now it helps alot when I dont have a flashlight near by.

Totally Satisfied
I bought this as refurbished for $59, a very good price. The unit looks new and operates fine after a modest workout over the last few weeks. The packaging was a little weak, a USPS padded envelope, but my unit was not affected.I am totally satisfied.Joe

Its OK
If you are in the dewalt battery system its alright. Sometimes the chuck slips a little. Its very sturdy but doesn't really seem to have the power my fathers makita has. If you are a home owner and just doing light work I would seriously give a look at Ryobi's new green line. It's probably not as rugged but their Lion batteries are just so much more affordble. When a single costs more than the bare tool somethings wrong.

Very nice drill
I bought this to have a second drill to make the drilling and countersinking of pilot holes for screws less cumbersome. (I already have a Makita 18-volt drill, but switching among two drill bits and a countersinking bit is too involved and I don't like bits that do all the work in one pass).I'm pleased with the drill. It feels good (balanced) in the hand. Speed and power are better than I had expected. It feels "solid" when drilling wood or aluminum. The sound of the drill is a little weird---it makes a clunking sound when the trigger is released. It seems built-in and I don't take it as a drawback. The battery makes it a bit heavy, but that's not a fault of the drill. Two things would improve the drill: 1) a clutch adjustment sleeve with more friction or "stickiness," making it easier for a hand to grip without slipping, and 2) a lamp that actually illuminates the drilling site. (About lamps...they are a great idea, but on my DeWalt the Makita drills, the lamp is placed so high that the chuck creates a shadow over the drilling site. Why don't the designers put the lamp at the bottom of the pistol grip, aiming up at the drilling site?) These two complaints prevented me from giving the drill a five-star rating. However, knowing about the drill's shortcomings in advance would not have dissuaded me from buying it.I have three DeWalt tools: this drill, a DW703 compound miter saw, and a DC515 vacuum cleaner. All three work well for me.

Why did I wait so long to buy this?
I already owned the Dewalt battery and recharger for a cordless saw, so got this "bare" drill - Love it! The first job was a couple masonry holes at eye level to drill, no problem. Second task was a few small holes drilled into fence posts for some small solar LED security lights a good 8 inches above my head - again this was easy to do because the drill is light enough to easily position and hold, even after several sets of holes. Like the saw, the battery clicks on and off the drill in literally one second, has a reverse drill switch conveniently located right at your thumb position next to the trigger, and comes with a Phillips and flathead screwdriver bit to boot. This is a terrific cordless drill period, but for women i think it is especially useful - the grip isn't too large, and the drill isnt too heavy - two aspects where a lot of tools fail. Dewalt I love your tools - if you can invent an even lighter battery that works with existing tool bases, you will corner the market!

DEWALT 18 Volt Drill
Watch what you purchase!! I did not read close enough to find that no charger or batteries are included for $89.00. What use is a drill without them. I am sending it back today to get the very same item at Lowe's for $99.00 which includes 2 batteries and charger. #185475. I think I am through with Amazon because this is the third item I have had problems with.Clarence Brueckner

and more powerful than this lame excuse of a drill
This is a low end drill with far less torque than the "real" 14.4 DeWalt I used to own. If you can't afford the XRP I suggest you go with a Makita or Bosch Lithium unit. Smaller, lighter, and more powerful than this lame excuse of a drill.

Nice compact drill.
I like this compact drill. It still behaves like a big Dewalt and seems to have all of the features that the full size drill would have. I liked being able to buy the bare tool because I was replacing one from a set so I had the case and charger already and did not want to buy them again. The drill was factory packed and complete exactly as I ordered. A very good buy.

Works great on wood.
Good cordless drill. I'm just using it on wood but it performs as well as a cordeddrill and so far goes like a champ on a charged battery pack. I have yet to runout of charge before my projects need for a drill is done.

If you already own Dewalt 18V batteries and charger- this is great idea
I was pleased to find that I could replace only the bare tool, since I already own batteries and chargers.I've used drill for a few weeks and it seems to work well. Built - in light is a nice addition too

Great inexpensive drill.
The drill works great. Slighty lighter than the (15 Yr old) Dewalt drill I replaced. Great power. Easy to control trigger. I love Dewalt, I own many of their tools.

Great deal
Very happy with the purchase. Hard to find the 18V anywhere, never mind at this price. Wanted it because I already had 4 batteries for it.
