does it come with the key and screws etc?

There is no key included with the mortise latch. It does come with mounting screws.

What side mount is this meant for, I have my key lock on the right hand side of the door (ooking inside the house)

It's a universal fit. Make sure you choose the correct angle for the lever or key hole. A 45 degree angle position is most common. It installs from inside the position hole in the door. Make sure you stick a screwdriver or clothes hanger through it to prevent falling down inside the door. The face plate is optional. It will be your decision to include the face plate. Fine haywire is good to use. I prefer haywire over the screwdriver or clothes hanger. Good luck, Floyd B.

The area around my lock is kind of cracked..would the face plate help with going over that?

Probably since it has a face plate that will extend past the crack , depending on the crack length

Does thiis include the matching strikeplate (attached to the door frame) that the lock engages with. I don't think that is included. Can't find it.
