How similar is this to the Coleman stove? What makes this better or worse?

This is a combination of a copy of a Coleman single burner camp stove with the burner from something like a Svea 123. The closest Coleman copy would be in the 400 lineup, likely a 442 Dual Fuel. The Coleman 533 Dual Fuel (Coleman Fuel/white gas or unleaded gas) is the only Coleman stove in current production and is an improvement over this one. Given that this is $55 and the brand-new Coleman that is US-made is $70, I know the one I'd buy... I know part are readily available for the Coleman.

Will it burn kerosene?

This is a clone of a combination of Coleman single-burner gas stoves and the Svea 123 burner. It is designed to run on white gas/Coleman fuel or unleaded gasoline. In these types of stoves, the generator (the tube that runs from the control valve across the burner and back to the bottom of the burner, that is designed to use the flame of the burner to vaporize the liquid fuel from the tank) is designed specifically for the intended fuel and WILL NOT WORK as designed for kerosene. The yellow flame indicates that liquid is coming out of the burner, and running 100% kero in this stove will waste fuel, not burn very hot, and soot up your pots and the burner... and eventually clog the evaporator and burner up requiring teardown and maintenance or replacement. You can run a blend of Coleman fuel and K-1 kerosene in these stoves, but don't blend beyond the ratio of 80% Coleman fuel to 20% kero. That will burn hotter, but will also take longer to settle to the blue flame and will be harder to get started and burning properly at lower temperatures. Your best bet is to use either Coleman fuel or unleaded gas.
