This Onkyo system (HT-S7800) is a very nice sounding system
This Onkyo system (HT-S7800) is a very nice sounding system. Has plenty of HDMI inputs ( 7 rear + 1 front), although only the first 3 rear inputs are HDCP 2.2 compliant (High Def Content Protection -DRM). Make sure to use HDMI 2.0 compliant cables to get the most from the unit. I didn't use the supplied speaker cables, but instead bought 16 gauge speaker wire to use with the speakers. The included speaker wires are color coded to help with installation, but I wanted a heavier gauge wire to carry the sound. The front speakers are quite large. This is because the front speakers also include the top firing Dolby atmos speakers in the top of speakers as well as the regular front speakers. I mounted my front speakers on the wall using the key hole slot on back of speakers. I used metal wall anchors instead of the plastic wall anchors to make sure they would hold the weight of speakers on wall. I bought a nice set of cherry wood speaker stands for the rear surround speakers. For all the speaker connections to the receiver, I installed Banana clips on the wires. The banana clips make it a snap to connect the speaker wires to the receiver without having to worry about strands of wire touching each other and shorting out the receiver. The receiver also has a built-in AM/FM radio as well. The receiver has Wi-fi and bluetooth, when combined with Onko's remote app on phone or tablet is great for streaming. During setup, the receiver even updated my firmware to the latest version, cool. So far I am very pleased with the system.

Excellent System for Typical Home Owner
This is a perfect system for the average Home Theater household. It's the second HTIB I've purchased. The first was a Denon about 4 years ago. Though I am pleased with the Denon, the Onkyo was easier to setup. I am sure that had to do with the technology advances. My hardest part was running the speaker wire, though my speaker arrangement may be uncommon. I had to run the speaker wire beneath our Family Room floor which is ~13'x21'. There is only a crawl space beneath the room. The speaker wire length included with the unit was inadequate, and is really too short for any sizeable room. Plan on investing in better speaker wire. I also invested the 12 bucks for banana clips to make connections to the receiver super simple.Once speaker wires were routed and speakers were connected (about 3 to 4 hours in my case), the automatic calibration was simple. I was able to listen to iHeart Radio, CD, TV, Bluetooth all within a half-hour. I like the fact that it has a Cable Set-top box HDMI input. It makes the Home Theater setup much easier than my old Technics component receiver.I'm not an audio connoisseur. However, in my average home owner's opinion, the sound out of this system is fine. The first movie we watched was Pitch Perfect (I bought the toy. My wife got to pick the first movie). It sounded great, and that's all I expected.

Good sound, frustrating design for set up
I think it's well covered about the sound quality of this system in other reviews by more experienced audiophiles than I, so I'm going to focus on the one thing that caused me to remove a star: set up.Bottom line: The way this thing is engineered will cause you to swear and want to/actually throw things. Though the speakers have a simple clip on the back to attach wires, the receiver uses a screw to pinch the wire. That means you have to get the 1/2" of exposed speaker wire between the screw head (which is covered in plastic) and the contact on the receiver. There is a notch in the plastic on the base which is the only place you can accomplish this task. The notches are ALL on the left SIDE of each screw. That means the only set that is actually accessible are the left-most contacts. The rest are BLOCKED by the other screws. In theory, if you turned the receiver completely around, set it on a table at or slightly above your line of sight so you can see the bottom row of screws, and had good light, this would be mildly annoying. In reality, you're going have your receiver on a low table/ledge/shelf and close to the wall so you don't have speaker wire strung out all over the place. This means you're working at best in tight quarters and at worst, upside down over the top of the receiver. That means you're blocking all the light in the room (because remember you're up against a wall), so you have to go get a headlamp or you're going to be shining a flashlight in your eyes, still unable to see the notch in the bottom/negative screw, fighting the wires you already put in, and generally cursing this thing's very existence.Hey, Onkyo, speaking as an engineer, you need to make your engineers assemble their designs in realistic scenarios so you don't start every customer relationship with your customers thinking you're incapable of smart design. For example, if you cut an accessibility notch in your plastic, how about you make it...hmm...accessible?!? (Off the top of my head, you have a top row and a bottom row of screws. Why not notch the top and the bottom? Why not use a clip like is on the speakers?) I was so soured by the insanity of your design that I expected to hate the system by the time I got it set up. Fortunately (so far), I'm pleased with the software, the auto-calibration, and the sound. And yes, my spouse assures me that "all" receivers are this way. That tells me you have the opportunity for innovation and chance to differentiate your product in the market. Please take it.
