I actually paid full price for this with my own money before there were any reviews listed.I have been making a lot of jewelry lately and I have had some trouble perfectly closing jumprings with one of those ring-shaped jumpring tools. So I went looking for a new pair of narrow-tipped pliers (roundnose or chain nose would have been OK). I saw this set for little more than the price of single pairs of pliers, so I decided to get it.I am somewhat unlikely to use the bead scoop, needles, or awl (although, never say never). I am also somewhat unlikely to use the tweezers, though I have been considering making a few things with flat-backed rhinestones lately so those may come in handy. I picked up a few random things around the house with them and they seemed to be reasonable quality.The caliper will definitely come in handy. I get a lot of bead subscription boxes and sometimes they include random round beads without sizes listed. But if I need to know what size of bead caps to order to go with them, for example, I can use the caliper. It is not the fanciest caliper I have ever used (that would be one from physics lab in college...) but it is functional and it certainly lets me know whether I have a 6 mm or 8 mm bead, for example.The wire cutters were a pleasant surprise. I didn't really need them as I have several other pairs, but I did try them out on some headpins and they are definitely sharper than my very old pair. (I don't use them to cut memory wire; I have a special tool for that.) It is good to have a second set.Love the roundnose pliers and the flat bent nose pliers for bringing the ends of closed jump rings together just a bit more. The roundnose pliers are also quite good for making loops in the ends of memory wire or headpins/eyepins. (I was especially happy about the memory wire; sometimes I have trouble looping the ends of that stuff.) The other pliers have not seen much use yet but I've been doing so much wire and chain work lately, they are good to have around.The case is also nice. It's actually easy to put items back in there and zip it up. I'm thinking about throwing my jumpring closing tools in there, too, since they're small and will fit. And then if I am good about putting everything away, I will always be able to find my tools.Some tools that I find essential for beading that the set does not have: flush cutter (for small chain) and scissors. I do also use a crimping tool and memory wire cutters, and the set does not have those, but they are somewhat more specialized and you *can* cut memory wire with regular wire cutters, it's just a bit more difficult.I find the quality of the items to be decent. Nothing was rusted and nothing smelled like plastic or chemicals, so those were big pluses. I have pretty small hands but found the handles of the pliers, cutters, etc. easy to grip and manipulate. They didn't slip in my hands. However, they are definitely not premium quality compared to, say, my flush cutters which were more than 25% of the price of this entire set.In the end, this is definitely worthwhile for beginners looking to build a tool collection, or for people like me who are getting more into chain and wire work. You may find as you go on that you'd like to upgrade to something a little better quality, but I am satisfied with my purchase and would make the same decision again.

I Love this set!! The case was very sturdy and the tools are exactly what I need for my jewelry projects. I have some issue with other tools being flimsy, or unwieldy to use. These tools though are sturdy and their handles are secure. They work well and do what they are supposed to. The addition of the tweezers, bead scoop, awl, and caliper were all icing on the cake for me because I mainly wanted the jewelry pliers. None of the pieces are flimsy, which is what I half-expected for this price. I am not new to jewelry crafting, so I have a few tools already. What I wanted was a set that would combine the best elements into one set so that I didn't have to lug all my tools out each time I wanted to craft a piece.This set is also an Excellent starter set for those who are just starting out because it has a little of Everything in there! The opening description is not far off, "This Crafting Kit Has it All" adequately describes this set! All you need are beads and thread or wire to create your first project!The set contains the following pieces:Round nose pliersflat nose plierschain nose plierscut nose pliersand flat bent nose pliers. All of these are between 3.5 and 4 inches in length. a good hand size, I think for most projects. The accesories include:an Awla Bead Scoopa plastic caliper (the slide portion is firm and not loose at all)a straight tweezera bent nose tweezerand 2 needles. I mean that is a Lot for the price and all of the items are shipped in a high quality zippered case with elastic holders for each tool that firmly hold each piece in place!.Seriously, what more could you ask for?!?

As a young mother and homemaker I loved working with my hands to create all kinds of gifts. Making jewelry was one of the things I loved to do. And I was very much an enthusiastic amateur. I used what I had on hand and creative problem solving: silverware, my teeth, hand tools in my tool box for house repairs, scissors. I learned from my mistakes and listening to others. Much time has now passed, but when I came across this kit I was excited all over again. An answer to many of my tool needs. I am looking forward to trying my hand at making jewelry again. I also know that a creative mind can find many uses for tools of this size. This is a good collection of tools that come in a compact and sturdy case. I like to keep things organized so this appeals to me.

For beginners it is hard to work with the medal without scratching it, so the round nose pliers would have been better if it had been smooth and not textured. It also would have been nice if the set had included the flat plastic pliers for smoothing out wire to avoid scratching the metal. I do not know why for a beginner's set you would have a textured set. It could have been fine as textured if the two tools needed as a beginner to avoid scratching the metal were included. Because those two tools are not included it doesn't work well for beginner's.

I purchased this set as a birthday gift for my daughter. She loves it. It is easy to use and has everything she needs when she is making jewelry and other crafts. Now she really wants the other Jewelry making kit from Signature Handtools! The price for this product is awesome. But if you are going to be working with a thick wire like 18-16 guage wire you will want ro get better quality.
