So good.
This is the first book by this author, and it will not be the last. I went into dolly blind and oh my gosh, it did not disappoint! It is probably one of my new favorite dark romances. Make sure you check the triggers before you read cause it is really dark. Has some things you may not be ok with. I flew through this book in just a couple of hours. I couldn’t put it down! I loved the authors writing style and worldbuilding. I definitely recommend that you love dark read it. Has the spice with a suspenseful revenge plot.

A great twisted read!
This was a first read for me from this author and it didn't disappoint. It was dark, emotional, twisted and yet surprisingly spice. It was nice seeing Dolly overcome some of her trauma to seek her revenge. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Dark Romance?
To me this was just, sad event that can happen in life, because we live in a horrific world. I saw no romance, I saw pain, desperation for healing, and loss. I am not saying this was a bad book or a good book. It was just a book that told a story, that could have happened anywhere. Sad, that’s all I felt, reading this book. If you want a dark romance that actually has romance, but is sad as well, read The Life of Anna.

Dark, but Captivating
This read was a dark one for sure. All of the secrets start to reveal when Dolly (Abigail) is found, because Ken (Brian) was kidnapped. They go through so much trauma, so much pain, and so much terror, that they feel it won’t end anywhere but there. Then they find a way, a plan, and once they do, the secrets that lie beyond those free doors are crazy! This book is captivating, but also read trigger warnings before jumping in, because it is dark. However a good read for sure!

dark
So I like dark reads, but had to back off as I feel too often in the stories the victims don’t get justice and that’s too much like real life. While this book is very dark, I enjoyed it as there was revenge! I still think the bad guys got off too easily, giving how long they tormented their victims. Overall I enjoyed this book, but it did feel rushed in some parts; such as the intimacy so soon after everything. Also her trauma seemed to be downplayed as far as how it would have affected her psyche once rescued. It’s odd they never addressed any form of birth control though, yet never pregnant. I love a good vigilante story!

Dark, dark, dark. Do not read this one for the romance
This book is about trauma, gritty and graphic trauma, but also the ability to find solace in another and take back your voice afterward. There are so many trigger warnings for this one and not everyone will enjoy it, and that's okay. Know yourself and your likes before diving into this one. While I absolutely don't condone the actions of the Dolly and Ken in this book, its truly about them finding themselves after the trauma and "healing" in their own way, which is what makes me give this novel such a high rating.

not my cup of tea
I did not enjoy this book AT ALL. I read very very VERY dark romance and crime books but this book is too gross even for me. the book is infuriating and the characters very childish. I won't go into too much detail but this should have SOOO many trigger warnings. just a gross book in my opinion.

A dark and unique read
I’m a big fan of Measha Stone. I met her through her books Beast, The Tower, and Red (the Ever After series of stand alone books), among several other of her works. This story, however, is quite a departure from her usual body of writings. And let me say at the outset that this is one satisfying read! I loved it. The first part of this book is a dark read, difficult in spots due to the excellent writing of Ms. Stone. The remaining part of the book, while also quite dark, is so satisfying that I almost purred.Thank you Measha Stone for an engaging, suspenseful, excellently written story. I loved it. The characters were portrayed so well, so thoroughly, that it was easy to either hate or love them (depending on which character you’re reading at the time). The world building was stark and real, and the plot was tight, complete and well executed. I’m a reader; I read every day. So, when I tell you that if you enjoy suspenseful and dark stories, this is a book you’ll want to read, trust me on this. Highly recommended.

Amazing!
Oh my word, Measha Stone does Dark incredibly well.Dolly throws you into the dark end right from the start. It's fairly harrowing at times, particularly because we experience the suffering, rather than just impassively observing. What I really enjoyed was how the story moved forward and how we got to really know Dolly and Ken.It's really difficult to discuss the book without revealing spoilers, so I'm just going to say that the plot totally and utterly held my attention throughout. I've read vaguely similar plotlines previously, but this was not a weak or carbon copy of them. Instead it far surpassed those previous reads, due in no small part to the quality of writing and the amazing characterisation of its protagonists. The symbiotic relationship between Dolly and Ken, the self-reflection, self-understanding demonstrated by the both of them, the incredibly believable love and connection they shared just took this book to another level. With all the difficulties and stress of the current world situation, a dark book felt like the last thing I wanted to read. However the darkness here was filled with such strength, it transformed to such power that, instead of dragging me down, instead it lifted me up in a way I hadn't expected.I massively recommend Dolly and am hoping Ms Stone dips her toes into dark waters again.

Dark & Amazing, Read the trigger warnings
This is a dark and twisted book, if you have triggers don't even bother attempting to read it.This is full of Non Con, Rape, abduction, child molesting, pornography just to name a few. This book was really well written and it reminded me alot of Sick Fux by Tillie Cole if your into dark reads definitely give this book a read

Dark and gripping!
This book had me in a chokehold! I felt like I was with Dolly & Kendoll every step of the way rooting for them and wanting justice for every victim who had been wronged. This is a story of inner strength and the ultimate resilience. If you’re picking this up please check the trigger warnings as this is dark!

Perfectly dark
I loved this story, I'm so happy that they found love with each other after what they both went through, especially Abbigail... i was worried that after the years and years of abuse she went through would cause her not to love but if anything she loved even harder.Truly a great dark story

Not as good as I thought it would be
When I started this book, I was hooked as it had the beginnings of something amazing and it gripped me. Unfortunately, this was short lived as I feel like the author rushed this book when she could have dragged it on longer and made an excellent story. The whole plot line within the playhouse was very quick, so I didn’t feel the true trauma from the characters because by the time it was getting proper dark and gripping, they had somehow managed to worm their way out within 80 pages of the book beginning. Another downside of this book to me was the sudden love story of Dolly and Ken. I don’t believe they could have built the trust and the love in different cells within one month. And I also don’t feel like true trauma victims would jump straight into bed with one another and engage in rough sex. It just seemed a bit too far fetched for my liking. The rest of the book just seemed ridiculous. Going off on a revenge crusade. This book should have focused more on the backstory of Dolly, the playhouse scenes and ended with their escape. There was no need for the murder campaign which is why I rated this only 3 stars because at least it was a quick read which I finished in a few hours.
