Great Sound in a little package
This is a great speaker. It’s like dynamite, small but explosive. We first found it in a Seattle hotel and thought we’d get one for our bedroom. It has a retro look to it and I’ll probably get a couple more for the office and our RV.

I want to like it.....
This is actually a great looking well made speaker that I wanted to like but I had some connection issues that wouldn't allow it. It is a little costly but I feel that it is better made than most. Hopefully I just received a defective unit. Actually considering trying it again.

Great sound and crazy long battery life -- what else could you want?
I played with a friend's Kilburn a couple weeks ago and enjoyed it so much I had to have one. The only other Bluetooth speaker I have used is the mini Jawbone, which is amazing for its size and price. However, the Kilburn is better in every regard so far; other than weight.I hate dropping too many silly audiophile terms, but there is one interesting difference I have noticed. The "soundstage" on the Jawbone was much larger -- meaning that it sounded pretty similar from many locations and even from 10-20 yards away. The Kilburn sounds great up close but from 10 yards away the volume seems to drop a lot faster than with the Jawbone. The sound is also significantly better from in front of the speaker.. even 30 degrees to the side makes it sound noticeably worse (but still good!) This is a good feature for working in the garage without bothering the neighbors. At higher volume levels, it fills the whole room just fine. But this is an observation, not a criticism -- the Kilburn is fantastic and I'm glad to own one.

I Bought the Kilburn First version - my review is based on that
I actually bought two of them. I was too stoked over how cool they looked, and thinking they were Marshalls, so how could they suck. I listened to them after I got them home - so I could REALLY hear them. They are awesome for Blutooth. They are even better than a few speakers that were wired that I paid almost as much for if you count for inflation. I would have never bought them for myself (and I hate that about me) but- I have a kid now. A boy. A teen boy. There was no way he wasn’t getting those speakers. I know that’s supposed to be a grandparents thing, but I don’t believe anyone here could have passed these speakers up if they had been me.They are better when connected, but not enough to make me regret buying them. They are clean and crisp, but not as loud as I’d like, but I may be hard of hearing from listening to loud music since I was a teen
